Default You big qwitter

Qwitter: Catching Twitter quitters

Brand new service that shows you when someone unfollows you on Twitter. It tells you who unfollowed you, and what your last tweet was when they unfollowed you.

It could be useful because then you can figure out if certain Tweets of yours really annoy people - and you can stop doing that.

On the other hand someone like me who takes things personally is probably just going to get bent out of shape. Today some woman unfollowed me after I posted this: "And I was all excited to fill up my big monster truck with gas at $3.15.Curses.Coulda saved 25 cents a gallon times 28 gallon tank"

She has a thing against trucks? She doesn't want to hear about gas prices? Fine, just fine.

I wonder how that would affect this service. I'd sort of like to be able to unfollow people anonymously - but be able to know when people are unfollowing me. I know, that's not fair. Who ever said life was fair?

Besides, the point is I am witty and charming and no-one should EVER unfollow me.

I'll make sure I don't press that unfollow button.

I was just going to ask when tweetybot was going to be available but I checked out the site and downloaded already.

Who's using it? What are your opinions?

I'm sure Mike did an incredible job, just want to hear peoples thoughts.

I'm not mature enough to use that either, Dana.

My reply would be, "OH yeah?!?! Quit THIS! <insert stream of NY accented curse words here>.

I just can't do it. LOL.

And like I said, they obviously didn't realize what they were passing up. I mean c'mon, there's just not enough fun, fabulous, fearless females running amok out there.

It would be great to have a little application, just like tweetlate that would automatically send the Qwitter a message with your own message,

something like: "Fine! I don't need any followers anyways! "

Maybe I can create such app.

"QwittLate.com"

Jose, that's brilliant - a bitter final message! You Antarticans are smart, I tell you.

"I've been dumped by better Twitters than you!'
"Don't come crawling back and try to follow me tomorrow, because I won't be here! Wait, where are you going?"
"I was going to take out a restraining order against you anyway!"

*falls off chair LOL'ing at Dana*

"I don't need you! All I need is this Ping Pong Paddle. That's all I need. And this lamp. I need this lamp. But that's it!"

Or how about the unequivocal, standard issue, "You suck."

Or, "Your Twitter access has been denied."

"I'm not really that into you."

Omg, the list is endless! Jose, add those in there. Let ppl choose their "Blowing you Off" message.

One of the features (not deployed yet) in TweetyBot is that it will periodically and automatically check people you follow to see if they've unfollowed you. There's more to it, but I think it's an important feature simply because no one can realistically do this manually and stay on top of it.

Check it out: TweetyBot - The Hot New Windows Utility for Twitter

Yes. Because you need to have 2000 followers in order to be able to follow MORE than 2000 people. So you want to keep your followers. But if someone is posting nothing but affiliate links or their tweets are just plain stupid or annoying...you may not want to hear what they have to say. BUT if you unfollow them...they may unfollow you.

So you are sort of pretending to follow them but you're not listening to them.

In using Twitter, there are a few people following me or I'm following that sometimes experience a little temporary insanity and start going over the top promotion wise. So I can put them on ignore without unfollowing them and see if they clean up their act.

What exactly is a "spamming post" if you chose to follow the person?

A spam post would be one that went to people who were not following you, but I don't think that's possible to do on Twitter.

When I hear people talk about Twitter spam it makes me wonder if they are the same people who subscribe to lists, then complain about getting emails.

Chris, I understand what you're saying about the list thing, and I agree in that instance. However, Twitter is a SOCIAL tool, and you aren't supposed to just constantly tweet links back to your products, sites, or affiliates. That just serves to annoy people. Interact with them a bit and then throw up a Tweet about a site/product/affiliate and it'll go over a lot better. It's no different than building trust and credibility with your customers. Hit them with a sales pitch every time you open your mouth and they're gonna walk.

~D.

You've got people on there who are running promotions and basically working links to sales pages into every post. In the worst cases, they sit there and post it 5 or ten times over and over, making it annoying.

Unlike email, you don't necessarily want to stop following them or them following you, but you do want a break from the promotional posts.

You are so right, Danielle and Big Mike. What I really hate is when people post a link which seems to indicate they're going to give you some information, like, "This is how I drive tons of traffic!" and you click on the link and it takes you to a sales page. If they just said "This is one of my favorite products, I have personally used it to drive tons of traffic and it's worth every penny," or something similar, I wouldn't be annoyed at all.

It's when I feel tricked that I no longer want to follow.
