Is Sunday A Good Day For A Product Launch?

Hi,

Got a couple of questions and seek your thoughts.

1) Was wondering if Sunday is a good day to launch a product?

2) I remembered there had been some talk about one absolute horrible day of the week to launch a product but I forgotten which day it is. Would you know which day it is?

Thanks and if you have some great stories or experiences about your own launches, please share them!

    I would avoid it.

Same with mondays, people are just getting back to work and have a heap of emails. Then again maybe they're extra keen to escape the rat race.

You see a lot of tuesday/wednesday launches by the big guys and that's obviously for a reason

    I disagree.

Did over 100 sales last week - yes on a Sunday and without doing a pre-launch.

Hit the right market with the right product it does not matter what day you launch.

Nice job Imran. I can only speak from my site and say that Sunday is my slowest day. That doesn't mean it's a bad day for a launch though. My busiest day ever is a Monday. Take a look at your site stats and decide what you think.

    Good luck with it
Observe the masses, and do the opposite

People in IM tend to follow the trend, but if you be different and stand out people will take note.

      Hi Warriorgo

agree that tues, weds thurs are typically best days for a launch.

As to Imram's comment that its good to go the opposite and stand out.....that can be true, but you really have to be unique and compelling for that to work...

Before launching on a Sunday.....I would do a small test to see how/when your list is responsive. It doesn't have to be full launch to get a sense.....You could make a special offer of a bonus to a small, random sample of your list on a few day, including Sunday... and then you should have a better idea.

I like launching on a Friday afternoon and then telling people on Monday how much my product sold over the weekend, the slowest time of all. By Tuesday and Wednesday, I've stacked up fresh, hot social proof that came from real customers, not my personal friends and the random people I gave free copies.

I am also fond of positioning my blitz for the European market and posting around 09:00 GMT. This gives it to Australians and the people on the Pacific rim right around the time they're finishing their day, the people in most the former Soviet countries something to see after lunch, and the people across Europe something to start their day. It also catches the night owls on the West coast and the early birds on the East coast, and there are quite a lot of both.

Left coasters in particular are very happy to get something before the rest of the world, because the rest of the country always gets things a couple hours earlier. If you're in California and looking forward to the latest episode of a 9 PM television show, you have to get the hell off the discussion boards for it before 7 - because the East coast forgets about time zones and will post spoilers.

According to my stats Monday is a peak day then traffic slowly starts to decrease till Sunday. I always send an announcement within Monday to Wednesday and it's been working great. So, I would definitely recommend any of those three days. But just like "LaunchGal" told, you can do a small test and find out.

it depend on your offer, if you are selling services related or high priced items you can make a killing on week-end

i got some great sunday sales, sometime the saturday where good in volume. it all depend on your market, if your customers are people busy all the week, they have more time the week-end to go trough your offer

you need to know what is the schedule of your ideal prospect, did they work during the week-end, when did they have free time....etc...go inside their head

I like Thursdays for the launch... BUT TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR TARGET. If you are dealing with business owners and entrepreneurs, they don't tend to be on their computers on the weekend. And the day before the launch is one of the biggest days to mail. It is the day you tell everyone about the exact time the cart will be open, it is a day you get people on the "early release buyers list," and it is the day you would give out final instructions for purchasing.... Thus, if you launch on a Sunday, you are assuming people will not only be checking their email over the weekend, but also ON their computer in order to go through the launch sequence.
