Quick Domain Direct Question (GoDaddy)

Could anyone tell me if I could do the following?

I have a website already set-up: mysitename.com (for example). I want to create a link at mysitename.com/offer and want to simply redirect that to a weebly page (since its just temporary).

If I set-up a redirect in godaddy to send mysitename.com/offer to redirect to myweeblypage.com will that mess up everything that's on my current site mysitename.com? Or can you do something like that with domain extensions and get away with it?

hope that makes sense!

Who is your host? Is Godaddy your host? The redirect needs to be done on your host, not on your domain registrar.

i.e. install a redirect file that points to your weebly page and use that.

So... Godaddy should be pointing to your hosts nameservers. on those servers you should have your website files. Within those files you can just add another html file that is a redirect and be able to sent people to it via yoursite.com/redirectname.html

    make sense?

Now, if you just have a domain redirected through 'domain forwarding', there isn't really a way to set up another directory on that domain as a redirect. you'd need hosting for that.

Agree with Mr Monster. Your web host likely has some written instruction/tutorial that should help you with re-directs.

Oh no! I'm in WAY over my head. All those posts sounded Greek to me! I was hoping it was something this silly blonde gal could do!! Godaddy isnt even my host now that I think of it...they are just my domain registrar? I was hoping I could set-up a simple redirect. I might just skip it! Yall are great for answering though!!

Do you have a webhost? A place where you save your site.

If you do, then all you need to do is login to your FTP program and create a new folder under your domain. Then you need to upload a basic php or html redirect page in the folder and that's it.

If you still don't get it, just PM me and i'll make it simpler for you
