Not getting results on Twitter...advice?

Hello:

I bought a course a while back from a guy who (supposedly) makes a couple grand a month with Twitter. I followed the advice...make a professional looking profile, talk about yourself, follow only targeted like-minded people, engage in conversation, don't be overly spammy, etc etc. My question is this: after having gained 10,000 "targeted" followers, I find that I get only a handful of hits to my links after each post, and only one sale. I am promoting Clickbank products with high gravity.

Do you HONESTLY think Twitter has any value for building lists or marketing? Are the gurus lying in order to market their "make money on Twitter" products? Is 10,000 followers not enough? If not, how many are needed to provide any results?

I'd appreciate any advice that doesn't simply repeat what I am already doing

Thanks.

I do not know much about twitter but i'm sure there are plenty of wariors on here that can give you better advice than i can,but i would assume that clickbank products and twitter would not go together well,my guess would be cpa offers for example:free trial offers or getting people to take part in a poll of some sort that was targeted to your niche would be a better idea.

but like i said im sure some warriors with more experience with twitter will be able to give you more constructive advice

I tried a couple CPA offers with the same zero-rate conversion. Are Twitter folks just cheap? LOL. Thanks for your post. Can't wait to hear what others are going to add.

That software looks great! Using the free version so I can get a feel for it but have a question; when you choose FOLLOW, what criteria does it use to select followers? I'd like to use either a keyword or a name to follow...any advice? I might consider buying the pro version but being unemployed right now, well, it's too pricey.

There is a user manual included in the zip file but if you missed that one here you goes.

To follow from search results, using the builtin browser, go to Advanced Twitter Search

Specify you search criteria, hit search button then click start following.

To follow from other peoples followers just use the browser to go to the followers list. Example if you are in the blogging niche and want to follow followers of problogger, just go to

        Code:
        http://twitter.com/problogger/followers/
        The click start following.

There is a TweetAttacks lite edition also available as WSO

        Thanks

Twitter isn't exactly an ATM: you must provide good informations, exchange tweets with other people,.. and then, when you've got a good reputation, you can put some affiliate link.
You can use Bit.ly to track how many people click on your links.
By the way, you can use Twitter as a leverage for your site: check my Wso in signature, this is a great script to gain visitors and followers.
    Bye,

What I find most with twitter is that all 10,000 of your followers aren't all on at the
same time, and your tweets disappear so fast.

I am actually finding better success using keywords in my posts and having people find
my tweets in the search function rather than my followers seeing what I post.

Its all IM, what you do in one medium you should do in all mediums. Think of it like SEO
for a website, do keyword research, then tweet keywords as part of your post. Maybe
you will pick up some search traffic and get some of your followers too.

Take this with a grain of salt because I'm no Twitter marketer and I might be missing out on something great by being stubborn but......

I dont see the point in investing so much time with a fad site like Twitter. Sure its been around for a while, but it WILL disappear eventually..and then your income stream is pretty much gone.

A LOT of ''gurus'' ( not all) are scam artists who either lie through their teeth or have never used the method used in the ebook. I suggest looking through forums about a certain subject and testing everything yourself instead of buying crappy rehashed junk.

Remember on social networking sites (FB, Twitter, etc.), people aren't looking to buy. If you're posting your affiliate links directly to twitter that may be the problem. Take the twitter traffic and direct it elsewhere, where you can sell your products to them there.

Twitter seems like a good way to drive traffic elsewhere like a sales page, or a webpage of your own where you can build your list.

I'm pretty new to Twitter, so that's just my initial opinion!
