Hey guys,

in your opinion, has Twitter lived up to it's name? have you found another source of social viralness you coudn't possibly live without? (Yes I do make up words )

To be honest, I've been so busy the last few months I've never actually been to Twitter.com.

For all I know it may be a great tool, but is it worthy of a gold marketing medal?

Love to hear your views on the ever growing Twitter.

Louis

I don't see the big deal. I have it. I have a few followers and I post links to my articles. About 1 a day. Don't see much traffic or anything from it.
maybe I'm not using it correctly.

I get way more traffic from myspace and facebook and I hardly do anything there at all.

Lol you only have 16 followers, which means only 16 people see your tweets and just twitting links everyday will reduce that number to maybe 2 or 3.

For me, some days i even have 200 uniques for that day. (when I tweet my site.)

Overdoing it can kill you and label you as a twitter spammer.

          Sorry, not trying to offend.

Just get some followers, communicate with them and occasionally tweet your site.

Not that hard once you get the hang of it really.

To get some followers, just go join the twitter social group on the WF SG section.

Thanks Jose I was just kidding. I'm not easily offended. Where is the Warrior SG section?

Ok, well, for what it's worth, here's my nickel:

I'd like to say the idea was all mine, but I was inspired today by one of the Twits that I follow, thanks to Dana. It's the Twitter Cookbook. Anyway, I sent them a private msg saying how cool I thought it was that they did entire recipes in 140 chars. They sent me back a msg saying Thank You and that because I was their 100th person to direct message them, I could have a recipe posted with any ingredient of my choice. I thought, "How cool is that?!" I never win anything. Ever. Ok, fine, I did win $15 tonight playing dice w/ some friends, but that's the first time I've won in over a year of playing.

ANYway: I took their example and ran off to my blog, posted a blurb about giving away a free piece of jewelry to the 100th follower on Twitter. I cross posted to a few forums I'm active in, and a few jewelry communities I run. Mind you, I only had 67 followers on Twitter when I started.

W/in a matter of 2 hours, I reached 102. And they're all perfectly targeted at my niche. The traffic on my blog went through the roof and I gained about 10 more RSS subscribers and a slew of direct msgs about how cool the blog was.

So, I dunno about you, but that worked for me. If the blog traffic spiked and peaked and I got nothing more by way of RSS, then I would've shrugged and called it good. But this tells me there's plenty more ppl I can pull to the niche blog.

If I host a freebie giveaway every now and then, it's all good. Builds good will among my followers. The next contest is for the 50th Direct Message so all the newcomers and previous subscribers don't feel like it was a total loss.

              /tosses nickel in the fountain....

              ~D.

The short version is - go follow a bunch of people. You signed up to follow me, I was notified by email, I followed you back.

I get most of my ghostwriting clients from Twitter these days. I haven't posted a WSO for my ghostwriting services on here for months.

Here's the thing though - Twitter doesn't work really well for promoting other people's affiliate products. As far as I can tell you are a p.i. - people find that fascinating - and I think you're doing a good job posting links to the articles that you've written about p.i. stuff. I wouldn't just post links though - talk about your day, talk about your business, talk about what you're doing. Twitterers hate it when you post nothing but links.

If you only have a couple of dozen followers it isn't going to help you much because not that many people will see your "tweets".

Ditto! When you have a 1,000+ followers, one quality Tweet creates an instant surge.

    Interesting Louis.

If connecting socially opens the door for identifying common needs and offering solutions,

then I believe the microblogging and sort of relaxed business/social atmosphere is conducive for fostering that sort of hotbed for social market awareness.

When you know who needs something and you know who in your network provides that need, it can be very valuable in helping the right people connect as well as for putting you in touch with those whom you can help and can stand to benefit greatly from the experience, knowledge, expertise, skills, offers or network you have to offer as well.

I like the term social viralness. Lol.

Much more natural than say, social virality, socially viral or something text-bookish.

Again, an endorsement of the idea that twitter can prove to be valuable

in marketing is not to say that it is a quick-fix, get rich, wam bam antidote

    for global economics.

The social climate and getting a "feel" for how people relate will need to be and yet can be easily learned and adapted to,

as well as the relationships need to be and can be cultivated.

There's much to say of the effectiveness of twitter as a marketing medium,

yet that's not to say that it is going to be effective if someone

just throws out a bunch of links to offers without getting to know who is

    searching for the solutions.

Interesting discussion and it's obvious twitter has been picking up speed.

I'm eager to hear what others have to say.

    Great discussion, Louis.

From the marketer's view, like any other medium, one will want to test which offers are best

    within its context.

That is a great idea, Danielle! Every time I post something on my blog I tweet about it, like "Here are some really useful blogs I love" and put a link to my blog post - and I always get a wave of traffic. And i've gotten several ghostwriting clients that way.

    Thanks everyone!

Now, if only TweetyBot worked on my MAC! Ahem. I am not running Parallels just for Twitter. LOL.

I forgot, you're my Mac buddy, sadly left out in the cold by Big Mike the Apple rejector.

One thing I like about Twitter is that I can go on there and ask questions about ANYTHINg and get answers. Homework question for my kids ? Got it. Recipe suggestion? I get answers. On the Warrior Forum I can come and get very good answers on any aspect of internet marketing but on Twitter I can simultaneously socialize and build my business.

Bah lady, then ask for me, cuz I asked yesterday and got nuttin' on my question.

I'm looking for info on a company called WiseRep. They are a company that takes your product to the wholesale market in your niche and gets your product placed in the appropriate stores, etc.

They keep hounding me to hand over my jewelry for placement, but I'm wary cuz I can't get any info on them, plus they're pricey.

Maybe you have better Twitterers for that sort of thing than I do.
