How You Can Build a List Fast Using Giveaway Events

Hi Guys,

In this post, I'll like to show you how you can build a list from zero to thousands of people who are happy and ready to pay you $1000s; and the steps you can take to achieve this. Enjoy.

"The Money Is In The List".

If I had a dollar for every time I've seen that phrase on many internet marketing forums, blogs and email newsletters, I'd be a multi-millionaire indeed and I'm sure you'll agree.
Yet, we are all carried away with all the hype and other enticing (but unfortunately untrue) offers we see all around the internet marketing niche that we are tempted to follow the hype and completely forget or ignore the essence of list building.
In some cases, there are some who finally try to build a list and after doing so, still don't get the results they hope for from their efforts.
But there are those who later learnt how to build a 'responsive' list and then go ahead to make lots of money for their efforts.
The most important lesson I've learnt is to build my list by giving good quality information for free.
People with a 'responsive' list in its 100s can make 2 to 3 sales a week from their affiliate promotions but the big earners are those who grow their list to about 1000 or 2000 subscribers and begin to make from $3K to $5K from one product promotion. You can achieve this type of results if you follow this system:

Build a list fast by contributing to Online Giveaways:

An online giveaway is an event anyone can join. It consists of two categories: the contributors category (people offering free gifts) and the members category (people looking for free gifts). These members have to opt in to your mailing list to get the free gifts you are offering.
An online giveaway event can last from 5 -14 days and in some cases a few months and there are usually 4 or 5 giveaway events that are running at any particular time.
It's free to join a giveaway as a contributor. One rule however is that you'll have to promote the event or else your gift will be removed from the site. This ensures that everyone is promoting the giveaway, resulting in tens of thousands of people joining as members, scrolling through the gifts displayed and choosing the ones they want to download.
Some gurus will argue that the subscribers you get from giveaway events are freebie seekers looking for just free gifts to download around the net and you'll never make money from them. I can categorically tell you that that opinion is false! Check it, and you'll be shocked to find out that these same gurus are usually contributors on the same giveaways that they criticize - they just don't want you to achieve the same results that they achieve, as simple as it is.
As you read on, you'll learn how to ensure that the subscribers you get remain subscribers and responsive to your offers/promotion.
So let's get straight to the process of participating in an online giveaway event and building your list fast. A basic overview of a giveaway process is thus:

TRAFFIC-------- GIVEAWAY-------------OTO----------------MEMBERS AREA------------YOUR PRODUCT---------OPT IN PAGE--------------INSTANTLY RECEIVE YOUR PRODUCT.

As you can see from the overview above, traffic is the first and most important factor for any giveaway, that's why it is mandatory for every contributor to send traffic to a giveaway. When someone gets to the giveaway site, he's meant to sign up as a member before he can benefit from the giveaway. After signing up, a member is taken to a 'ONE TIME OFFER (OTO)' page where you can make some money as an affiliate before he's taken to the members' area. At the members' area, all the gifts for the giveaway are displayed there-your gift inclusive. When members click on your gift, they'll be taken straight to your opt in page where they are required to sign up to receive your gift which will be instantly sent to their email address from your auto-responder.

You can get more subscribers by sending more traffic to your giveaway event and also participating in more giveaway events.

You'll need some important tools to build your list using this system and these tools will cost you some money. They are:

·Domain name.
The domain name will be the name of your website which will serve as your squeeze page (or opt in page). Your domain name has to be eye catching and should also reflect your offer. You can register a domain name at namecheap.com

·Hosting.
Hosting your website can be described as paying for a place where your website will live. You can get a good web hosting company at bluehost.com or hostgator.com

·Auto responder.
An auto-responder automatically delivers your product to your subscriber once they sign up and also helps you send your emails to all your subscribers at once. I recommend Aweber for this.

Get a free product to promote at giveaway events.

Your gift has to be something of top quality. Even a short special report will do as long as its provides good value and excellent content. If you have a product of your own, that will be preferable. But even if you are just starting out and you don't have a product of your own, you can download some top quality free ebooks at ButterflyReports.com

The great thing about ebooks from Butterfly Reports is that you can brand them with your own affiliate links and get additional streams of income.

You can make your gift unique from others downloading the same ebook at the giveaway by selecting other good ebooks from Butterfly Reports and including them as bonuses to your main gift. Zip up all these ebooks so that your subscribers can download them all at once.

How You Can Promote Giveaways.

It's a rule for every contributor to promote giveaways.

When you're just starting out, this may seem as a daunting task since you don't have a list to promote to but you could use other means to promote your giveaway event and get effective results.

Writing articles on the usefulness of giveaways and submitting them to article directories where you can then paste links to your latest giveaway event at the resource box. You will surely get targeted traffic. You can also add your giveaway links in your forum signature and write a few useful posts. You can also comment on relevant blogs and paste your giveaway links there. Once you have a small list, you can start promoting giveaway sites to your list.

How to Ensure Your Subscribers Stick With You.

It's true that most of your subscribers will probably sign up for lots of other gifts at these giveaway event but they can remain subscribers to your list if you treat them differently. Here are some tips to make your subscribers stick to you:

1.Don't bombard them with offers. Sending too frequent offers to your list will make them unsubscribe quickly or ignore future emails that come from you. Remember that you are dealing with real human beings here; you have to develop a relationship with them constantly. Build trust before you begin sending your offers/promotions. You can build trust and a healthy relationship by sending more free gifts, interacting with them through your blogs, offering free advice and generally great content. Then when you make a product recommendation, your subscribers are more likely to think "I trust his opinion, I'll try what he is recommending".

2.Another great thing about giveaways is that you know what your subscribers are interested in. Let's say for instance you are giving away an ebook on 'website flipping', then you can send them regular tips on flipping websites profitably and you can also promote related products on website flipping because you know they are interested in such products.

That's how you make money with your list!

Building a responsive list is not just a one off task, it is continuous. You can set up the system with what I've explained above.

If you follow the basics here, you are sure to get results. This involves HARDWORK, You may encounter some hurdles but if you remain consistent, you'll get through.

When your list is in the 1000s, you will start to have leverage and make some fantastic cash. Gurus and other marketers will start contacting you to promote their product to your list and in no time, you'll become a big player IM circles.

Take action now and achieve results!!!

To your success,
Jude.

I've never used giveaways yet, mainly because most of them seem to be excuses for the event owners to get you to pay for upgrades without any real indication of the quality of leads you will get.

Has anyone any real-life experience of using these events that they would be willing to share?

I like your contribution but I've tried this before and it didn't turn out good for me. Most of the people I get on my list from these events unsubscribe as soon as they receive the download link and even if they stay they don't pay any attention to my emails.

It might work for some of yall but didn't work for me

This is very true in IM field. It's not worth doing giveaway event in this field, in my opinion.

In order make this event works, it's better to turn your freebies into a series of 'crack'. Make people addicted. Then you tell them that you're going to stop giving it. Wait for them to push the order button. Watch what happens next

However just a simple giveaway event can work very well in other fields especially in the 'pain' related health market. People already have the pain and want it go away.

Well Mohammad, it's true what you've just said and that's the major challenge with building a list with this method...

But the good news is, there are ways to tackle these problems and come out the better for it.

First, you need to spark up a relationship with your subscribers right from your download/thank you page.
Making your subscriber feel special and informing him that you'll be sending more free 'valuable' gifts from time from time to time will definitely make him stick around.
The fear of losing more valuable gifts if he unsubscribes will want him to remain a little longer in your list.
You just have to let him know this instantly right from your thank you page.

Secondly, you have to keep to your word and send them more free goodies.

Building a relationship with your list is not a one off thing, it has to be a continous process.

You can offer them free consultation.
Asking them to email you questions about their greatest challenges or issues they'd like to tackle while you give them free advice on how to go about solving their problems will make them warm up to you the more.

This can be a difficult and time comsuming experience on your part but the advantages are enormous; you immediately create a bond with them and a lasting impression as a guru in your field.
It also creates a feeling of indebtedness in them (they'll be eager to reciprocate the gesture)

Just doing this two exercises above will make them love you and stick with you forever and then when you recommend a product/service to them, they TRUST your judgement and rush off to buy what you're promoting.

That's how you make money from your list!

      Cheers,
      Jude.

Wow, great post Jude. I never really understood how giveaways work but after reading your post, I have a much better understanding of it. I will surely give that a try as I am looking for more ways to get subscribers.

You should put this information in an ebook and make some money from it. Very good info. Thanks!

Thanks for the detailed post Jude. I have just started on Giveway events and to date have had a bit of a mixed bag as far as listbuilding goes. Some have been better than others. Is this a dumb question "Does the type of product you giveaway have a direct effect on the optins you get?"

It's not a dumb question and the answer is "Yes it does!".

For example, a contributor offering gifts on a topic like 'making money with CPA marketing' will definitely get more optins that someone else offering gifts on 'Multi Level Marketing (MLM)'. Everone is talking about CPA marketing these days and the market just gets hungrier.

Traffic Generation techniques also has an inexhaustible market as more and more people keep looking for the 'latest' ways to drive traffic to their websites.
Other great topics that will surely get you more optins are:

      Making money with Twitter
Article Marketing: 'How to write good articles fast'
How to get JV partners for your product launch

Offering free Softwares have also proven to generate more optins.

What I'm trying to say here is look for an offer that has more hungry customers in your niche and you'll definitely get more optins.
Visiting forums like this is a good source of finding what problems people are actually eager to solve.

Let me stop here.... I think my getting ahead of myself.
      Hope this helps.
      Cheers,

      Jude.

Maybe it's just me... but I can never seem to find a decent list of giveaways still accepting contributors. I sign up for them, and then can only download stuff - not share my own.

I've signed up for several email lists claiming to mail me about new giveaways, but they only share them when they're already closed for contributions. (And they spam the hell out of my inbox!)

Anyone has a good list of them, still accepting gifts?

You may well get a big list, but it's usually not very targeted. In the long run, I've found that this method of list generation is not that good. Also, most people on lists like these seem to be freebie-hunters, not buyers. Just my opinion, of course. You know the golden rule - Always test everything!

I have tried this before when I was starting out.

The problem is that you get a list full of freebie seekers. So the money is not in the list built this way. At least from my experoence.

1,000s of subscribers from 1 giveaway... No, you can't. Expect less than 100.

Get a high quality list from giveaway events... You don't.

    ...

But they're good for people who have a very small list or no list and need something to leverage and start making some money.
