Product launch managers?- what % Cut do they take?

If you are considering using a product launch manager for your product launch, what is he cut % they usually ask for the 'total' profit??

I know this varies per manager, but as a rough % what do they take, or what would you offer them?

Hey Matt- it is typical of a Product Launch Manager to not only take a percentage of your sales, but also an upfront fee.

The back end is important because it is a reward to them for a job well done. It also benefits you because this is their incentive to give you everything they have. It creates a Win-Win. Allowing them to participate in the back end allows them to take ownership in your launch!

The front end, the upfront fee is important. WHY? Because you don't really want your launch manager off doing other people's launches instead of yours. If you give a launch manager an upfront fee, that locks them into you. Most will go off the market in order to focus on your launch. There is a ton of work to do on a launch, therefore, depending on the size of their team, it is usually not viable to take on multiple launches at the same time. Especially during launch time.

Now some launch managers also provide limited consulting. Some provide blueprints. So your upfront fee can very dramatically. So for full time launch manager, I would say about $3,000 a month for your newer managers and I have seen $25,000 upfront PLUS a $6,000 a month retainer until launch which was 2 months away, so $37,000 before the launch plus a sliding scale of 12-18% for back end revenue split. Most of the guys on Jeff Walker's Platinum Group can charge that because they have access to Jeff and really work together. I have seen them deserve every penny they charge too!

AND it depends on YOUR list. How many customers you have... how many prospects you have. No manager wants to take them self off the market for someone with a little list of unresponsive people, but I am sure they will for the right money. $$$

        Hi Matt,

I think we have spoken offline. Nice to see you here! Have you launched Fire Your Boss?

Good info from James. I thought I would add to it. Here is an excerpt from my earlier post on an thread called:"Find Jeff Walker Product Launch Manager"

The majority of PLM’s that I know will negotiate fees, however know that they may expect something of value in return. This could be a larger percentage of launch sales or something like a mailing to your list in lieu of part of their fee if you have a significant size warm list in a niche that they are interested in. This is an individual matter... you just have to ask.

If you can identify a launch manager who has less experience they may be more open to a smaller fee or negotiating more to your liking. You many also consider seeking out one of Jeff Walker’s Platinum group, who have been hand picked by Jeff and are in a mastermind with many of the more seasoned PLMs [and Jeff] – not all of them are listed on the PLM Directory listed in this thread.

        Balance of thread is here:

let me know if you have other questions or I can be of further assistance!
