Sounds like a unprotected download page/area. Once it gets around where your files are they tend to spread over the web quickly. If this is your problem change the filenames and folder locations asap. Also work to protect your downloads through for example e-junkie. Cheap and secure file delivery. If you do wso´s you can use WSO pro

You may want to make your download page a bit more inconspicuous.
Calling it /download.html is easy for people to find. Change that to some random name and number combo. eg.9u837r64_bvrx.html.
You may also want to add a "no follow" to the page so it doesn't show up in search results for your site.
The way it is now it shows up on the 2nd page of results in google when you search, site:yoururl.com

At least yours is not lead to download page but a lead capture page. It gives me a idea I can do sometime like this so ppl taught that they can download it for free and fill in their email.

Also, do a search on Google for the filename of the pdf or the title of the report and the words "pdf", "download", "rapidshare", "megaupload", or similar. Pirates might be spreading around your report.

Raydal's answer is right, but keep in mind that this will stop obedient robots. Some people will look for this in the source code to find out just what you don't want followed, in case it is what they are looking for.

I am missing something here. If you have the no follow no index on a certain page of your site, how would someone find that in the "view source code" of your other pages? They couldn't view the source code of the page in question as how would they know it exists?

It is actually pretty easy to code expiring links and just so happens to be coming to the top of my to-do list for my site. It will be free when it is done. In the meantime, google for download guard.

  Go to rent-a-coder and hire someone to write a clickbank protector for your page. Here is there guts of the routine. Pretty simple.
  This is PHP.

You are right too. If it is just on the hidden page that should be a good idea.

What I was thinking of is having a robots.txt file in the public folder. (Brain slipped a gear.) This is common and required on one of my sites. And then of course it is easy to find, just domain.com/robots.txt

Annette,

Quick fix is just to take your source TheMissingLinkInNetworkMarketing.html code and encrypt it here:-

HTML Encrypter

Then upload the file back to your site. Now whenever anyone looks at your source code, it's all hidden.

Maybe not the best fix, but quick and works.

It's been said multiple times but seems no one is acknowledging those comments, so I'll say it again...

If you view the source of the page, you can find the URL to the download page. Literally took me about 3 seconds to find it.

Some of the other methods explained could also definitely be used to find it.

I am trying very hard to rectify the same... but of course, these things are not as easy as they seem for some of us.

I guess right now the report is not available. Have changed the buttons/url and I am trying to see how to do everything. My computer crashed the other day, so I am trying to install prog including komposer on my new machine. Hope I will be able to fix the same. If not, I might outsource this... But I would really want to get a grip on these things since I want to be writing more reports for sale

You can just edit the files on the server without having to have a web builder program.
Just go in to c-panel file manager and check the file you wish to edit and go up to code editor.

  Although you've created a new Paypal button, you need to use the code it produces to replace the existing code on your page.
  
  At the moment if you look at the source code for your page, the "alt tag" that is included in the Paypal button is still showing your download thank you page.

I see that everyone is telling you to change the download link, but that really isn't the whole problem... Your download link is visible within your source code or paypal buy button.

You need to fix it using the paypal encryption code when you make your "buy" buttons. That's really the only way to hid it.

If you want, shoot me a PM and we can use my paypal button creating software to fix this problem...

That has happened to me in the past!! Luckily I caught them straight away by keeping a close eye on my stats (my friend calls me a stat queen) I had statcounter code installed on my download page (it's free) and most of the time it tells you where the visitor came from. It told me the forum where someone had posted my download page so I got it removed and changed my download page link.

Doing whats been said above from other warriors and installing tracking can help so you can see where your visitors are coming from.

Your paypal button is the first thing you should work on. Your button image alt tag should have text like "PayPal - The safer, easier way to pay online!
instead of the download page address.
