How do you recommend getting on first page of Google Maps?

My offline clients are asking me how to get on first page of Google Maps. Below are some of my strategies, let me know what I am missing or other ideas on how to get placement.

1. Completely fill out profile, load your profile up with keywords you want to show up on maps for.

2. Connect your Map with your Google Profile and Google Local Business listing.

3. Add lots of Blogs, Video's and Articles keyword driven to your description on both Profile, Local Business and Maps.

4. Ask you customers to write reviews

5. Promote your Google Map and Profile on your Blog or Website.

What else can be done? Thanks Warriors ~~~

Thanks Daniel, I someone who works at Google could fill in the blanks. I know the recommendations is a big thing and I also heard listing on other directories and connecting with the Map/Local Business Page will help.

Let me know what else you find.

Are you asking about the 3/7 pack above the natural listings or something else?

Having your business or company description used for your Google local account the same for other sites like merchantcircle, yelp...when your creating / filling out account info...try to use the same wording, keywords, phone #'s, etc...

Businesses with a closer proximity to the center of town show better...

Use physical addresses, not PO Boxes...

Having a local phone number listed instead of a 800#...

Make use of the features for "Add Coupons"..."Add photo's & Add Video's"....Google loves youtube video's!!

Create accounts not only with Google Local, but with Yahoo local & Bing local also....

If the business has multiple locations through out the region, make sure it has listings for each location, geo-targeted for that specific area of the city/town...or if it's a smaller business targeting certain neighborhoods or zipcodes.......meaning, just don't use "Phoenix Jeweler"....use Scottsdale Jeweler, Glendale Jeweler, Mesa Jeweler, etc.....Phoenix is a large city, with a lot of competition.....if you break it up into targeted area's, it helps...

You really need to target organic search results....not every keyword will generate a google map....or it will generate 3-map or a 1-map results..making it even harder to get shown, so organic results come into play more & more....I read a statistic somewhere that stated over 95% of people never look past the first page of a local search....& something like 97% will not look further than the first page on Google maps....I will look for that article, I have it somewhere here...
