Hello guys,

Would some kind soul help me with this please...

I have spent a few hours trying to discover why my PayPal button will not redirect a customer after a successful purchase.

When creating the button - there is the field titled:

Take customers to this URL when they finish checkout

I have typed in the url I want to send my customer to.

However - after testing this - after payment I get the standard PayPal 'Thank you' page - but no automatic redirect.

My worry is - that this Thank You page I always think is pretty vague. There IS a Return To Merchant link on this page - that if someone clicks on - they DO get sent to the url I want them to - but I think many will NOT click on this link - as it is not obvious to.

Can anyone help me please?

PS OR can I somehow customize this Thank You Page -- and add my own text that makes it more obvious to click on the Return To Merchant Link.

Hi there,

I've had similar problems. Unfortunately PayPal sometimes fails to redirect. What I've done previously is to create new button, that has solved the problem for me.

Jenny, here are some of the things you can do:

1. Create a new button, as suggested above-this may solve
your problem

2. Before redirecting the prospect to paypal for payment, create
a sandwich page with instructions. Or make them optin before they
purchase and send instructions by email.

Hi there, you're missing one of the functions in the button creation. Next to the return to merchant link, there's another field called something like redirect after success. That's where you put your download link.

On some paypal accounts, your customer will have to click the 'continue' button, on others, it will automatically redirect.

Download this manual here for a step-by-step guide. It's got some useful tips on integrating an autoresponder into the system too.
