To have same bonus product for different products

Hi,

Let's say I sell ProductA. It has an e-book as a bonus product. I'm going to launch ProductB in the same niche. I want to add the same e-book as a bonus product. (Actually it is essential to read my e-book to undersatnd the concept of the both products)

But, If someone already has product A, then would he/she not want to buy Product B because they already have the bonus product?

What do you think? Or any experience?

I can give a discount for existing customers of either ProductA or B when they are gonna buy the other one etc. That could be an option.

But if discount is not an option, what do you think?

I know the real answer would be "It depends", but have you ever had any experience regarding to it? Or have you ever been asked a discount/or got a complaint because they already have the bonus product from your other products?

    Actually, I find that this converts potential buyers of product A into buyers for product B - so they get both of them. Especially if they're similar in price.

    It's a great way to upsell, too - when someone says "yes I would like to buy product A" you can do an OTO and say "but wait, buy product B instead and I'll give you product A free!" or "wouldn't you like to buy product B for just another $X?"

    Same with "later" upsells. Like if you have an AR sequence on product A, it can end with an upsell to product B.

    Now, converting product B owners to buy product A... less easy.

    I understand your concern but I don't think folks would
    complain because of the bonus. After all, it's a bonus,

    Always upsell...here's my philosophy...

    why not?

    Buying is a triggering mechanism...

    As long as product A and B complement each other well and there isn't much overlap upsell both of them to each other...

    And offer the same bonus ; )

    Your customers don't care...if they bought product A the only thing that matters is whether or not they liked you product.

    I don't think there's an issue with that.

    Giving away the same bonus doesn't make a real
    difference if there are other unique bonuses (and if you
    gradually explain that the bonus is essential for productB)

    Also, how many of your customers will be visiting the sales
    page for productB? All of them? or some of them, at the end
    of the day this won't make anyone pissed at you or make them
    like you less.

    If the bonus is a high quality product-then there's no reason in
    the world for why you can't "bribe" your customers with it.

    And to close, talking from experience, most of them won't even notice
    that you're giving away the same bonus-most of the people never read
    the full sales copy-they either buy or they don't

    I've encountered a few cases where they complained or asked for something else because they already have the same bonus. I said the bonus stands as is. It does not really affect sales volume as there is only a very small percentage that complains about bonuses. I guess they realize that you can't really complain about something that is being given for free.
