100K As Of 8/11...Real Hope For Noobs

At 7:24 PM on 8/11, I broke 100K for the year.

On 6/1/2003 after 5 months of slaving away at my Internet business, I made
all of $28.

I was lost, confused, and without hope.

I was out of work for years, and after trying to make it as a web designer
and getting cheated by my partner (3 web design jobs and no payment)
I tried to make it as a marketer.

I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. I didn't know where to go. I
just about knew how to use the search engines. I certainly didn't know that
places like this existed.

It took me 6 months, but I finally made a few hundred dollars in June.

By August, I was making about $1,200 a month.

I wasn't getting rich, but I was seeing some hope. Maybe I could someday
make a "living" wage.

It took me 3 years to finally make my first product and have my first
$4,000 month.

It took me another 2 years to have my first $10,000 month.

And now, after just 7 and a half months into this year, I'm on pace for
a $150,000 year, give or take a few thousand.

If you had told me this would happen 5 years ago, I would have said you
were stark raving out of your mind.

I'm actually in tears now as I'm typing this because my whole life had been
one long struggle until these last couple of years.

My point is this.

If I can get to where I am today after a start that I am sure very few
could match as far as futility, then anybody can create and run a
successful home business.

Please don't give up. If something doesn't work, try something else.

If nobody learns anything else in life, learn that much. I truly believe the
more you do for others, the more success you yourself will see.

Actually, I'm confined to the house (more or less) because of health
                                problems.

I get out to go to the doctor, maybe to the corner market for food and
occasionally I can take a short trip to the mall or music store, but I can't
take long trips or go on long vacations.

But you didn't know so I won't hold that against you.

                                See, money isn't really everything.

I wish I had learned that when I wasn't taking care of myself.

I think everyone gets discouraged at some point. Those who quit when they get to your $28 level miss out on potential success if they just keep working it.

Those numbers might sound a lot - but these days it doesn't go far.

I'm making more and my first $100k all went on paying off debts that I had. Now the house I want is $650k.

$100k sounds like a lot when you're still working towards it, but it doesn't go as far as you would think because your lifestyle and goals all change aswell.

When I had $100k of debts and everyone was telling me to declare myself bankrupt - the life I have now seemed impossible to dream of, but now that I have it all of my goals are about improving even more and helping others. I used to think that having a million in the bank would mean I never wanted more, but the more I think about it - The more money I make, the more I can help other people - so no amount will ever be enough as there will always be more people needing help.

So it's a never-ending journey, it's just that your perspective changes as time and circumstances change.

After many $$$$ down the drain and my wife now unable to carry full work load I ventured into this IM stuff. Won't go into wasted $$$ on programs because everyone does that.

Cost of living being what it is we now have $1000/month with about a $2500/month habit. Not long before Taco Bell is out of question!! But post as yours and I am uplifted to keep at it and turn my successes into SUCCESSES!! and try my best to catch you!!

It's important for people to see that just because you don't make a million dollars your first month that it doesn't mean that you can't be successful. And just like any other business, making money on the internet takes time - you have to build your online business just like anything else.

I'm actually on a similar road as you. Starting off slow and building (after making many, many mistakes!) This will actually be the first year that I can make enough to cover our expenses! Maybe next year we can even take a vacation!

      Steven,

First, Congrats on your success. Second, I also have to note that you have inspired and helped others that you may not be fully aware of. Myself being one of them.

When I first found the WF and started "lurking" you were one that always posted helpful information. The type of information I have printed and highlighted and refer back to. Your information helped me keep grounded and not get overwhelmed because your style allows me to feel confident that I can do this.

I made my first $200.00 in information marketing last month and I contribute part of that success to the information you have provided on this forum. While I tend to be skeptical about advice on forums because you don't always trust the source, when I see your name next to a post, I have confidence in your experience and insights and know that you have provided the guidance I just need to take action.

I know it's not a lot of money, but it proves that I can do it and will work to double, triple and then hopefully follow in your foot steps to the $100,000.00 mark someday

So Thank You, from one "newbie" and again, my sincere congrats on your own personal goal accomplishments.

God I hate jumpin' on these mutual admiration bandwagons!

But the truth is...Steve W has come a long way from the guy who I first met on a street corner in South Philly.....pickin' his Banjo for tourists...who dropped dimes and quarters in his hat cuz they felt sorry for him.

      Flash forward 20 years....and damn!

Steve is makin' serious bling bling...and his lousy banjo has been replaced with a shit load of high quality studio equimpent....and the guy plays well enough that hot IM Chicks send him their panties in the mail!

      God I hate this guy!!!!!

      But I'm impressed none-the-less.

I would have used your "change" to buy whisky and hookers and a few yanks on some Jersey Slot Machine.

Peace, bro. Rock on. For real.

Chris, I honestly don't know. At the beginning, it was all a blur.

Today, there is very little learning of anything new, not that there isn't
stuff I don't know. I just don't spend a lot of time looking for it. I tend to
spend most of my time today just doing. If it works, no sense in trying to
fix it, even though I know I can improve in many areas, which is probably
the reason I'm taking so long to get beyond where I am now.

But like I've said many times before, I'm happy with the way things are so

I really need to read great stories like that now and then. Thanks. I've been at this for a year now, and am only now consistently pulling a couple hundred a month. I always thought I was a pretty smart guy, and sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time, but then something always keeps me going - one more article, one more page, one more blog post.

I do remember the first time I made any money online - 23 cents - it seemed like all the money in the world at the time.

Thanks again for sharing some motivation!

I've reported it. Hopefully, we can get these last few posts deleted.

You are right, this is ridiculous.

Steven you had a better start than me. I think in my 5th month I was -$500 or so. Wasted money. $28 doesn't look so bad then.

Lots of work and determination can go a long way. Those who are struggling can get inspiration from this post and see success often doesn't happen in the first week.

Oh wow I didn't even notice the date. I assumed he was making a post about making 100K by last August. Guess someone used the search function to find a success story.
