How Can You Build A List In A Desperate Niche?

Hi,

heres my problem. I have sites on curing acne that are getting 50 uniques per day right? I have one site that averages around 50 per day uniques and has been for over a year. I have never built a list for this site. Why? Because, I dont feel comfortable recommending acne product after acne product?

Why dont I? I guess im weird or something but I dont have acne so I cannot test every ebook, cream etc. So how can I promote it?

So im not going to build a list in this niche even though im losing a lot of money. Now, my next question is what hobby niche converts?

I have no problem trying to sale someone gardening guide after gardening guide. Because its just a hobby and does not effect the users health. If the product looks good I will offer it. But with acne I cannot test it on myself and see for myself since I do not have acne.

So im wondering, am I wasting time building a list in a hobby type niche? Or perhaps a "go green" niche? Thanks

Oh yea, im doing article marketing right now and just wrote 20 new articles without the purpose of building a list. Kind of stupid huh? Ezinearticles always gives you like 50-100 vistiors no matter what in the big niches and I just lost them all haha.

So I want to stop doing that and start building a list in a profitable niche that I feel comfortable selling to. Thanks

    Hi Alexa,

well I promote one ebook. Only because I checked it out and heard good things about it. But the truth is I feel a little bad about selling it too. But to actually build a relationship with my list and actually tell them to check out such and such product because it's good is different.

Honestly, I would rather just work on building a list in a niche thats hobby related or goal oriented. Not a desperate niche that is health related. If that makes any sense, lol. But im wondering if it's even effective in hobby type niches. Thanks

Alexa, but how can I just repromote the ebook over and over to the same list? I surely have to promote more acne products to them too right? Also what about the green niches about saving energy and all? That niche seems pretty good right now and I would not mind promoting those products

You have to believe a few things:

    1. That people have a serious problem.

    2. That everybody is different.

    3. Which means that different solutions will work for different people.

    4. You have to believe in EVERYTHING you promote.

    5. People will be better off when they find the solution that works for them.

    6. It's your duty to help them solve their problem by presenting as many solutions as you can.

NOTE: If you miss #4, then you will feel uncomfortable when it comes to promoting.

It's just my personla opinion, but once you decide to enter a niche like this, you have to try to help as many people as you can. Otherwise you are withholding something that can do millions of people a lot of good.

    All the best,

    Thought of something else.

To help build a bigger list in a "personal problem" niche, be sure to highlight the confidentiality of their information.

    Then keep helping them.

Send out broadcast messages of any new scientific or medical studies that show promise. Don't be afraid to promote something they may be able to use - whether it's free for them or not.

If you are uncomfortable about promoting, it's not because of the niche. There is an underlying cause. Finding that is the key to success in this case.

    All the best,
    Michael

I have a going green/energy savings site that I started a little over a year ago. It averages about 500 visitors per day. It actually is a decent niche for back-end and long term repeat sales. There are lots of products to promote, and there's tons of new and useful articles to keep your autoresponder full and constantly delivering valuable content.

Thanks Michael! To be honest, I just don't know how to test products in the acne niche when I don't have acne. I would rather not give health advice, I guess the underlining reason is I feel im not qualified.

Is it pointless to build a list in a hobby type niche then? I would rather just go with a niche right now that I feel comfortable being in with a list. But im guessing niches like weight loss, acne etc do better with a list?

Depends on the hobby, For example, people who are trying to improve their golf. They will buy a product that helps their grip, but i bet they would buy another product that could add 30-40 yards to their drives or another that would cure their slice

Stephen, do you have a list in that niche? I did some quick keyword research and it seems like tons of the long tail terms have millions of results in Google. But there are lots of products like you said which makes it enticing Just wondering if article marketing would work well for this niche or not since its so saturated.

hmm...the green niche looks pretty good. Has a lot of products im just worried that I cannot rank any of my articles though. It seems like a really competitive niche.

In my opinion, there might be two problems with the Acne niche:

    1) Your customer is looking for a cure that hopefully will solve his/her problem for good. Once the problem is gone your customer is gone.

    2) Acne, typically, affects adolescents. People in this age range are less likely to own a credit card. So what they do is, find you, and think about buying your product. Then they have to ask their parents to go back to your site and buy the product. How likely is that to give you good conversions?

Even if you don't want to promote multiple products, you can create the list to promote the same help problem 3 or 4 times. Sometimes it takes this much promotion to a buyer in the first place. Not every buys first time they see a sales page.

If you don't feel comfortable promoting any product, then simply don't do it. Otherwise, your conscience will gnaw at you.

Find a niche that you're interested in that's also profitable. You enjoy gardening as a hobby, and it's definitely a profitable niche, so look more into it.

Try the Market Samurai keyword software. Compatible with Mac and Windows and the tutorials do a wonderful job of helping you find the ones that get traffic but are also profitable.
