Do I purchase all eight domains; what's your opinion?

Let's see if someone can help me make a decision here. I going to develop a niche that seems to have some great possibilities. I've found 8 key word phrases that seem to have a high potential.

I'm basing this on the concept that the "in quotations" ratio compared to the monthly searches is very excellent for these key words.

Further more the .com domain names are available for all eight of the keyword phrases. This is really where my question comes in.

Being that all of the .com domain names are available should I register all of them and then the follow up question is should I then develop eight separate sites within the same niche or is there a better model ?

What would you do with this opportunity... Is it really a good opportunity or do you feel the "in quotations" search numbers are irrelevant ?

I've shown the numbers below, put your genius hats on and analyse what you would do. I'd appreciate any and all feedback.

Regardless I'll try to develop within this niche and will likely be using bum marketing techniques to do it... unless someone has a better idea.

I wanted to get as much WF expert opinion as I could before I move forward and before I commit to the eight domain names. I'll make the domain purchasing decision with the next couple of hours based on feedback.

Here are the numbers, thanks in advance...

Column 1) # of words in keyword phrase
Column 2) # of global monthly searches on google for the keyword phrase
Column 3) # of google pages with a "in quotations search"
Column 4) # of google pages with a no quotations search

For column number 2, is it 'exact' or 'broad' search?

If these are the figures for 'exact', then its really good.

Given the competition in terms of number of web pages, there really is not much competetion it seems. (Could be wrong, column number 3 could be populated with high authority pages but unlikely given the low level of other web pages).

I'd say you could rank easily with just 1 site.

Inter123 , Thanks for the input...

I used google adwords keyword tool for the monthly search numbers. As far as I know these are exact phrase searches... can anyone enlighten me here?

It's broad match by default. So probably that.

I'd start with one site, roll it out as quickly as possible, see if the market makes you money and then scale up.

There are other ways to tell like are other people making money in the niche - other money sites or google ads for the search terms.

          Chris... Thanks for the feedback.

...Trying to understand if it's broad search by default in google adwords keyword; why the norm is to compare the search results against the exact "phrase" search in google search engine when evaluating the competition for a keyword phrase... I'm hoping this thread can also help me understand how the Gurus' come up with this comparison.

Winlin, just take a look in the google adwords tool, it is a dropdown box on the top-right above your keywords, it will say "broad", change this to "exact" and you will see how many searches that exact term is getting per month.

Your original question actually answers itself. If you really believe that there is high potential in securing the associated domain names then there really is no question. Take it from someone who sat on the sidelines waiting for just the right stuff to happen.

Before I knew it the related domains got snapped up and are making a fortune for the buyers - all based on my idea. Think of this as a business expense. If you've got something with your original idea, $80 more is peanuts to protect your potential... Good luck.

I would purchase the shortest .com and focus upon it. Make individual pages for it using your other words and word combinations.

I don't see any reason in buying 8 domains until
you have a product in the niche completed.

Until then it is a long shot of needing 8 domains.

Get your product finished, get the domain for the best
keyword that describes your product and start a
        campaign.

If it sells then jump on the other seven.

Just having 8 domains will not make you any money.

Alton is right. Buying 8 domains in the hope of building 8 completely unique sites that rank for 8 different keyword phrases is one of those 'really great free web marketing ideas' written by somebody who wouldn't know SEO if it rose up from the grave and bit him/her on the nose.

Thanks , this the approach I'm goign to take. No need having 7 domains lying around collecting fees.

I don't know what the phrases are, but in case this fits....

If you can find a domain name, i.e. boystoys.com, you can makeup a lot of domain name keywords with subdomains. For example, hotchristmas.boystoys.com, how to choose.boystoys.com, topten.boystoys.com, etc.

    You get the idea.

Also, if you picked up multiple domains as you mentioned, you can make them related in content and point to each other's articles.

I would suggest beginning with one, and basing your choice on the competition in terms of the relative strength of the players on page 1 rather than a count of page results.

Have a close look at who is appearing on page 1 for the no-quotes searches and whether or not it's dominated by behemoths.

Do you have some software to quickly determine domain age, PR and inbound links of the pages appearing in search results? If not there's a free Firefox plugin called SEOQuake that may be useful.
