I can't use Google search any more. WTF

I tried to use Google search a few minutes ago and got an error page telling me that it looks like I was using automated queries. WTF I am just sitting here doing a little research. Not even doing continuous queries.

I have got this a couple of times previously, but then I got a captur graphic to enter and then proceeded normally. Not this time. Got a Google Help link, which was of no help.

Not sure how long this will last, but I tried again a few minutes later without success, so it is not like usual. Not sure if I am prevented from using any of the other Google tools. But none the less, this is a pain in the arse.

    Try changing your IP.

If you are assigned a dynamic IP by your internet provider, turning your modem off and on in 10 sec. may be enough. If you are on cable you may have to request a new IP reassigned by calling them (at least that is how it works with my provider).

And I hope you aren't on a dedicated IP.

I'd think it likely be a temporary ban though. Should be resolved in some hours on its own (if you don't do take the IP change route).

I usually clear my cookies or clear my search history. This happens to me all the time.

I am on a broadband through Comcast. Changing IP is kind of a pain. I am hoping it is just a temporary situation. I sent Google a form to try to resolve it, so hopefully that will resolve it shortly. But I had to let off steam and Warrior Forum seemed the place to do it.

Well it cleared itself up. I didn't do anything but wait and I just used the search again and it went fine. Now if I could just remember what I was searching for before, that would be great. O well.

If you were logged in to your gmail account it should be stored in your Web History.

They have been hitting me with that pretty heavily the last few days. I ended up using www.hidemya$$.com to block my ip and it worked fine after that. Which is a real pain to say the least.

It happens often enough these days.

The funniest thing that happened to me recently in these lines is that when I was trying to search Google's patent link from my full time job office (nothing to do with our business and a complettely different Internet setting and locality0, it kept saying me that I am a bot, so I could not look up prior art while trying to work on my current patent (had to run it through a colleague's box).

Well, looks like Google is trying and every algo takes some time to develop and it would keep giving false positives for some time, so I guess it is okay.

Well, I'm probably going to regret posting this, but I have never encountered that problem nor do I know of anyone else who has (outside of the above posts, of course).

So the next time I do a Google search - after posting this - sods law - I expect that I'll be banned for life
