    I like the giveaway, but it has to be something unique that has REAL value. Not to say that eBooks, reports, and videos aren't valuable, but many are not and that has created a negative stereotype in the minds of many internet users.

    Lure them in with something that really stands out, something...dare I say it...that actually requires some help/work on your part for every person that signs up. Automation is great, but the combination of automation and value to the person that signs up is a tricky combination to come by.

    Yes, great tips! Create a landing page specific to your promotion, gather data/email addresses for auto responder series and e-newsletters. You'll want to retain their contact information to build your list. Depending on your niche, it would definitely be nice to give-away a tangible item of some value to the recipient, even a 'how-to' e-book or video would work. Just make sure you present the true value to the end-user.

      It depends on the market niche. Different niches respond to different strategies. If you're talking about a non-internet marketing/mmo niche, then it's going to vary.

      The most reliable, but also the most expensive is PPC.

        what do you want to market to your list? I have to know what kind of list you want to get before I can help. but like everyone else said, give something away. There are ways to give something away, and still make money off the traffic after catching their emails (everything from pop-ups, exit-pops, redirect them to a cpa offer after they enter their email to a similar product and much more). What kind of list are you trying to build?

    There's tons of ways to start getting traffic in order to build your list. The better the bait however, the easier and cheaper each traffic method will be from day one.

    PPC is a good start, or buying site specific links...or banners, or just writing articles if you're on a budget.

    The traffic isn't really what people suffer with, it's knowing what to do with it. Traffic is everywhere these days...paid and free.

    Paid methods are fastest though, which I believe is what you're after. If you break even on PPC, then you're set to go out and really start getting the big traffic online elsewhere.

    Or you can scale up your PPC ads (if there's enough searches per month to warrant it)

    The quickest way to drive targeted traffic to your websites is through buying traffic.

    PPC, PPV or other media buying.

    However you can also drive traffic effectively through video marketing, ad swaps and forums.

    But paid options get results much quicker. So it depends on your budget and your income goals.

      I like using forums and blogs.

      Also like using twitter for fast traffic but only works if you have a responsive following.

      I also like using google alerts to alert me whenever someone has posted on google on my targeted keywords.

      This brings some great targeted traffic relevant to what your giving away.

      A compelling squeeze page with a valuable product or book.

      I normally use software products. It seems to convert more sign ups.

    It ALLL depends and how much capital you're working with. If you have the right "carrot" to lure your prospects, and a good squeeze page then the traffic can be driven from hundreds of different ways.

    Like a lot of members here say, PPC is probably the best also the most expensive. There is also a ton of ways to get it for free which is a slower pace BUT its the best kind of traffic that you can get.

    I know we all want every thing fast, however free traffic and organic leads, although slower to generate are THE best you will ever get.

    I know of 2 fast ways (besides PPC) to build a list from scratch:

    1) Join giveaway events focused on your niche.
    2) As building followers of Twitter is fast (using proper automation) you can use it for traffic to a squeeze page. I used it to build my Facebook and than built a group on Facebook (it works much like a mailing list)

    Always use high quality information to give subscribers...
