Article Marketing Question

Just curious... If the site or blog you are optimizing for has already gotten a top ten position in Google for the keyword you are targeting, would you still write and submit articles to EzineArticles.com with your resource box links pointing to your site pages?

    My efforts might not be as intense, but I would definitely still be submitting and adding links.

    Keep in mind, the SERPS change constantly and just because you are on the top today, doesn't mean you will stay there without additional effort.

    For me, it would totally depend on the power and authoritative status of the sites placed 1-9.

    If they were not so tough, and the keyword phrase was a good one, I'd definitely do it.

    If it was a crappy keyword phrase with sites like Amazon, About.com, Warrior Forum, etc... above me, then I wouldn't.

    I find that I get traffic through the readers of ezinearticles.com that are not using the search engines, so I say yes, do that. The only time you should stop is if you are trying to launch a new website.

      2 positions in the top ten wouldnt hurt, but isnt there a related keyword you could target aswell........

        Yes, I would definitely keep up the article marketing efforts, albeit not as intensely.

        Link building velocity (how fast you build and maintain those links) is one of key factors in determining rankings. I've had a few top-10 sites that dropped in the SERPs slowly once I got lazy and stopped building links.

        I'd drop in a 1 or 2 articles a week. With varying anchor text too. That should keep google happy.

    It totally depends on what I wanted to achieve from the article.

    For example, if you want some more links to keep your blog's rankings then yes I would. If you wanted some more "natural" exposure to EZA's readerships then yes I would but if it's just to direct link to an offer (I.E the vendor's sales page, etc) then no I wouldn't.

    The biggest problem I've seen with article marketers is that they're so "trigger happy" in how many articles they write that they don't have a "purpose" for those articles and hence why their success rate is so low.

    You've got to think about exactly what you want to get out of your article marketing BEFORE you do anything else... because if what you want can't be provided by AM, then you're going to need to do something else and save some time

    Absolutely! Those backlinks are golden! You may have done the coolest SEO you could for your page or blog, but backlinks solidify your standing in the SERP's.

      I agree Tom. I often get readers and clickthroughs direct from the articles so there is a benefit from these articles.

      However, even if launching a new site/ product/ niche etc, I would still submit articles on the previous niche if it were profitable.

      This is the other added benefit I see, added on to above. There is no harm in solidifying your standing, as there is always likely to be competition attacking your market or niche!

        I do things on a page or keyword basis so it depends on who is above me for that keyword. If I have a good shot at moving up a spot, then I keep writing articles for that page. If not, then I move on to the next page (either on that same website/blog or on another).

        That being said, I agree with what others above have said about getting traffic from people simply finding your articles on ezinearticles so continuing to write an article every so often can only help.

        Also, I've found over the years that if I totally neglect a website for a long time (months and months) it starts on a downward spiral that I can never seem to get it to recover from. So, if you have a site that is earning well and want to keep it that way, I guess it is prudent to keep writing articles for it!

          Now I see the "short-sightedness" of leaving the page to rank only for one keyword phrase. So, based on all your comments I will submit to EZA for related keywords, but not the original set already doing well in Google (unless that starts to drop).

      Something that I noticed is that it matters to get backlinkes and that is the reason that some sites do get to the top publicity can be good or bad and that is what fool the SE so that bad site will rate good.Best thing don't stop to submit your articles' keep going and use different keywords,change your Titles and so on more sooner you will get there in the Top.

        Yup, even with the SEO done proper, and at top 10 with relevant keywords, I would not want to slip my position as search engine ranking is very volatile. Article marketing should be done as accordingly as possible. In fact, a blog can be created from your side. Periodically, you can choose your blog to send to article directory, thereby ensuring that you would always be updated and that traffic would always come to you. Most importantly, you can save double effort and prevent double standard.
