In addition to general information, I have my articles listed on my main page. When I searched Google for an article title, Google list the main page and refers to part of the page that has the link for the article, but Google does not list the article itself. Any idea why this happens?

Maybe GoogleBot isn't indexing your stuff because robots.txt is telling them not to. Check that and your page's meta that it doesn't say this:

    META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">

Have you submitted your site map to Google? Submit from Google webmaster tools.

You will not be able to "Make" Google do anything, probably just do a little searching and learning B4 asking.

Its all about links, and the Google Bot is doing its job of finding them
