I'm just curious. What kind of click through rates are your getting on your ezine articles for example.

Despite what you might hear that is a great start and as you attempt to climb higher percentage wise you will find it more difficult to come by.

Additionally, as you submit more articles and your current crop of articles receives more page views your CTR may dip - Don't despair that's a normal occurrance.

        Respectfully,

        I get 17%-23.3% now.

        It depends on niche also.

If the niche is in demand, CTR is higher.

This topic has been covered ad nauseam. I'm telling you, man, just use the "search" option on this site and look over those threads. You could literally read all day on this topic alone.
Considering this forum has been around in one incarnation or another since 1997, I'd be surprised to find much that hasn't been covered "ad nauseam".

Perhaps we should just turn off the post new topic function and everyone could just search.

Since everything has been discussed so many times, why do we even bother?

    10% up to 25%.

But the ones where I get highest clickthru I do NOT get highest sales; so I don't worry about it too much.

Don't make the mistake of assuming that a higher CTR leads to more sales. Not only isn't it true, but even the exact opposite can sometimes be true, and I have a year's figures in 8 different niches to prove it.

Having "increasing the CTR" as a primary objective, in itself, is very misguided indeed.
          I second that.

You can have a resource box that says.

"Click here & I will give you $1,000 INSTANTLY - GUARANTEED!"

And your clickthrough rates might be through the roof but the quality of the traffic is going to be horrible.

The best traffic is simply ripping of your headline from your squeeze page/sales letter and using it in your resource box and adding Click Here Now To {Headline Goes Here}.

That could be because they seem to see it working as the titles for WSOs and as headlines for the salespages from many of the product launches that take place daily.

          Great response.

This is exactly what has happened with me.

In fact in some niches where I only receive a 8-10% click thru rate, I make a killing. This is because the people that click through are ready and willing to buy.

Although you should definitely test and tweak to improve conversions, make sure that your profit is increasing too.

            Good question John,

In my articles I provide great content but not the complete answer that they are looking for.

Instead of providing no real content which makes the reader just click the back button or giving them everyone they want to know (which again just makes them want to click the back button) I give them 50% of the answer.

For example, I am involved in the "get 6 pack abs" niche. (Who isn't ). In my article I will provide information about how to stay motivated, examples of foods to eat and how many calories and what body parts to train and when.

But I don't give away exact workout plans and exact meal plans etc.

Then in my resource box, I don't come across as full of hype. I simply say that if they click the link, get the workout and meal plans and work hard, then they will get good results.

From my articles, people will hopefully trust that I know what I am talking about and I don't over hype my link. This may decrease my article CTR, but it will weed out freebie seekers. (This is if I am sending straight to an affiliate link)

This format has worked very well for me.

Of course it varies from niche to niche in terms of how aggressive I want my resource box and "pitch" to be.

            Hope that makes sense

EDIT: Just had a look at Jennifer's articles and they are structured in the same way. Provides good content but buy no means the entire package. Her resource box format is structured a little differently but that's because she is sending them to an opt in page.

Simple answer. Because I'm lazy lol.

I normally like to test traffic and conversions etc first before creating a list in any niche. But for some niches, I'm content with simply sending traffic straight to the affiliate page.

But you'd think that after sending thousands of visitors directly to the affiliate sales page I would spend the 30 minutes and create an opt in page and capture leads to promote to later on....

But I simply haven't gotten around to it for this niche.

              I should though...

In fact you have inspired me to do so now. I'm leaving a lot of money on the table

                If I need to.

I monitor the rankings of all my articles and if my articles don't rank well initially or fall out of the top 5 then I will build links from profile links, other articles, social bookmarking sites, web 2.0 etc etc.

But only if they don't achieve good rankings by themselves or they slip.

i average about 15% at EZA and have over 1000 articles published. Although it is a niche thing as well. I wrote 20 articles recently i a new niche and they CTR is freaking amazing, over 50% for some of them. To bad the niche is not converting for me!!!

heres a tip that works for me, end your article with bullet points and put a bold headline in the resource box that is a call to action. gets me good CTR most of the time!

At EZA I have about 90 articles listed. My average rate is 15.5% and my top all time is 59%. I think that one is high because of the keyword combined with the offer I make in the resource box.

In that case, it's all about the searchers having a problem and the resource box promising to solve it. It doesn't work that well with all keywords, but I do try to think of what kind of problem or issue I can help the searcher solve, then give them part of the solution in the article and offer more in the resource box.
