Ebook creation question?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this problem I am having.
I tried to google for the answer, however, couldnt find a consistent one.

Maybe fellow warriors have had the same problem and may have a solution.

I just completed my first ebook on word. However, when I print it to .PDF format, the links (links to my website) do not work in PDF view. It only
looks like a link. hence, the example. It doesn't let you click the link.

can a fellow warrior please help me with this.

That's odd. The links should work. When you create your book in Word and make your links, you convert to a PDF and those links should be clickable. This is how I've done it always, never had a problem. Retrace your steps. Something is wrong. Did you put http:// in your links before you put www?

  • Tell me.. how are you changing the word file into pdf format. There are different software that convert *.doc into *.pdf but they are not that good. Best would be to use the add on provided by Microsoft site. In your word 2007 under the 'save as' button, there is a link to search add on online. Click that and get that add on to change word into pdf. That works really well. I'm using it for years and all links work well. The links just don't work in header or footer.

Here you go. You can use this site and it's free, and uses NO tags
    on your ebook.

What tool did you use to convert your file to .pdf?

Hope you still have the .doc file of your document?

Google for open office suite which will most probably be
@ OpenOffice.org - The Free and Open Productivity Suite, download their.

Within the suite you will find ''open writer''.Open it up and
then copy your document from MS Word and then paste
    into the open office writer.

And when you have done that.Click on 'file' just you will do
in MS Word and then click on 'export as pdf'. Follow the on-screen
prompts and you will have a .pdf file which has all its links working fine.
    saved to your system

Yeah I had the same problem and it's annoying. Try a few other services to see if it changes, the examples above are probably a good place to start.

I avoid that type of problem altogether by opening up any Word .doc file inside Open Office Writer. And of course by using Writer in place of Word for all my ebooks.

The links, whether they are typed out completely, or a hyperlink put on text, work exactly the same, the first time, and every time. Then, afterwards, generating a PDF is one-click easy with the same program.

That's why so many Warriors are switching over. Ease of use cuts down on wasted time. Just my 2
