Hello vondr54, actually CS Copyscape does not charge $10.00 bucks, they only charge $.05 cents per article.

You open up an account, which is free to do.

Then you have to fund your account with a minimum of $10.00.

Each article you check, costs you $.05 cents.

When your account runs out of credits, you refund it.

Having shared that CS is the best way to go because that's what all of the major article directories use and it guarantees that you a clean version.

P.S. If you are comparing your articles to your articles, you should use DupreFreePro, it's free and it's one of the best desktop checkers to use if you are engaging in Article Marketing. Just don't replace the CS with DFP.

Just as Crew Chief said, you can use Copyscape.

I think there is also a free version of Copyscape, but you shouldn´t rely on this one, because it just searches for articles that have already been indexed, so it´s not reliable.

And $ 0,05 per article isn´t that much.

If you can't swing copyscape, take the content and search bits of it in Google, this will at least give you an idea if it's pulling any immediate results from the web.

If you do use Copyscape, don't bother running the entire article. I've had too many times where it says the article is unique but it's not. You do better to run random paragraphs.

Another decent free alternative is Plagium.
