How To Acquire An Online Business

Hi Warriors,

I've stumbled upon an online business which I'd like to acquire. They are in the cosmetic market have a great product and have huge potential but their marketing is pretty bad.

I know that if I'd be the owner of this business I could quadruple the results in no time using my experience from my current businesses and with all my Jay Abraham products I bought over the years.

I was wondering if you guys have acquired online businesses before and how you approached the owner.

Here is a template I've prepared which I'd like to use to contact the owner via email:

Dear Name,

My name is Name writing from blablablaPublishing.com. I was browsing through the internet when I stumbled upon your bla bla product which looks very impressive! I forwarded your site to my partner and he wanted me to contact you.

We've been building and acquiring online businesses for more than 4 years now and own websites in dozens of niches. From magic tricks to fitness products. We've done our research and noticed that you've been a student of Russell Brunson which we like.

The reason I'm contacting you is because we are very interested in acquiring your website: blablablabla.com

Name, feel free to call me on my cell at 555-555-5555 if you have any questions or want to discuss how we should proceed. Let's carve out some time to talk - I know you're busy, but I can make it worth your while.
Yours very sincerely,
Name (Founder)

What do you guys think about this template?

I'd appreciate your advice.

Cheers,
Dario

    Hi Dario

I think you have made a good start. A couple of points. Are you interested in just acquiring the website [domain, copy etc] or are you interested in buying the entire business? It may sound like semantics, but there is a difference.

Also, do you have a plan b? What if the owner isn't interested in selling but would license the rights to sell the product......you could set up your own site, do a better job and get the kind of results you know are possible.....

or perhaps there are other potential business arrangements if he/she doesn't want to sell [or wants an unreasonable price to sell]. I would have a few options in mind before speaking.

here are a few suggested tweaks to your letter.

Thanks for your advice LaunchGal. I am actually trying to buy the whole business. I do have a few plan B ideas ready. I'll be preparing a cheat sheet with all possible questions the owner might have during the phone call.

      Thanks again.
