Is There A Way To Use An Opt-In Box and Collect Info W/O An Autoresponder???

Hey Warriors,

Same question as in the title, I want to collect name, email, phone #, etc. on a simple squeeze page, but I want to handle the information/emails manually without an autoresponder. Also, I want to use wordpress for this.

Thanks for any help!

I believe your mails will get marked as spam and hence useless if you try to mass email from a personal email account.

Don't wimp out on an autoresponder as it is the most essential investment you can make. Sure you can go a free route, but the hassle will not be worth it

Im not really sure if you are trying to avoid an autoresponder simply due to the cost, but if so then you should definitely ditch the manual idea and get something like aweber. It truly is worth the cost if you plan on gathering a true list and following.

However, I can also see the flip side of the coin that you may be trying to get a little more personal with your readers to ensure that you are legitimate and care about their well being (whatever that may be). However, I still think that is possible with the right layout ,text and so on, but you will simply look more professional and get more done by avoiding the manual option.

That is essentially what I am trying to do, get more personal with my list. Also, I do not have set messages I will be sending to my list because I am sending them the current results of my trading, which obviously cannot be planned ahead.

If you simply want to collect e-mails for manual reply...

You can do this with ease...

Have a Google around for wordpress plugins for list building and you'll find them.. link them with phplist or a similar smalll script.... job done.

    BUT

If you plan to EVER mail this list of people in bulk, then I would strongly recommend that you go straight with an autoresponder.

    Peace

And now for something completely different...

Since aWeber launched one of the first affiliate programs with recurring income, the root has taken strong hold that it or one of its brethren are the only way to email a list.

People forget that email lists operated very successfully before aWeber et al, and that the software for doing so still come with just about every hosting account.

Go to your cPanel or such, and look for an option called "mailing lists". One popular one is called 'Mailman'. You can set it to 'announcements only' which means you can email the list, but the list can't email the rest of the list. If all you plan to do is manual broadcasts, this could be an ption for you.

That said, as Alexa pointed out, should you ever want to move to an autoresponder account with a third party, importing your list could be problematic for the reasons she mentioned.
