Awkward 'tricky' idea being used on Facebook...

So on the bottom right of my Facebook homepage(you know, the sponsored results) was this message:

{Pic of Nicki Minaj} (R&B Music Sensation)
Nicki Minaj is the #1 female on the scene!
They say she's the baddest around.
Click 'Like' if you think Nicki is the bestest!

{Like Button Here}

"Bestest" is how Nicki Minaj talks in her songs, so this "Ad" is totally head on with the Nicki Minaj fans out there.

I thought to myself, "what would she have an ad for?" So instead of clicking "like" (which by the way, 27 of my friends already "liked" it) I clicked the image, taking me to the page instead.

Well, it wasn't a Nicki Minaj page.

Instead, it was this: 411-PAIN | Facebook

Car insurance? Or w/e it is.. Really?

Why would they do that? Isn't that UNtargetted traffic?! These people think they are "liking" a personal favorite musician but are tricked into "liking" this crap?

Any ideas on why they would do this?

I guess at the end they still have their "fans" they can promote to...

It's this new page thing that has really taken off. People are creating pages just to get fans. There is a method behind this, I just don't think I agree wit some of it's false methods people choose to ue, like this on here.

The majority of those methods used via Facebook are usually Black Hat.
You can only go so far.

The only thing I could think of was:

    1. "Liking" the ad sends the ad to your friends, thus increasing viewership.
    2. "Liking" the ad could possible promote a lower CPC based on a "high relevance" with facebook maybe.

I don't know a whole lot about black hat facebook advertising though.
