When should I sign with Amazon Associates?

I've been working on a site and I'm through with most of the articles, and now I plan on doing things like adding backlinks, links to other useful sites, general SEO. Currently since the site is new, I've only had a handful of visitors. However, hopefully I'll climb the search engines within the next few weeks.

My question is, what would be a good time to become an Amazon Associate and start putting the links on my pages? I know it wouldn't pay off for a while anyway, but I don't want to wait too long either. I also noticed that they ask you about things in the signup process, such as how many visits your site gets per month. I don't want to be dishonest though. Are a lot of people just putting the number of visits they believe they'll get? It seems as though most people wouldn't just wait until their site had more than a few thousand visitors a month before trying to monetize it. Think about all the wasted traffic....

Thanks, warriors.

To be honest they won't know how many visitors you get daily. I got my amazon associates account quite a while ago now, but it was very easy, as far as I remember I didn't have any content up. Once you apply with a website thats in the search engines, you'll get an account.

I wouldn't fret they will approve you if the site is any way decent looking.
