How long do you list your site for sale on flippa?

Hey everyone, whats your listing period selling your site on flippa? Does that make any difference? My site has been up for sale for about 5 days now and there isn't any bids, only 2 watchers? And I still got like 20 some days till the listing is over? Should I decrease my listing period? Will it make any difference? I mean I don't feel like putting any more work or building any more links to it, but if I don't do that the ranking is dropping? Whats your suggestion? Thank you!

    Hi
I've been selling on flippa for a couple months and after testing different time periods I found 3-4 days the best longer they forget or you get so far back on the list nobody sees you people tend to look at the first couple pages. One trick I use is on the last day I'll check where my ad is located if its past page 2 I'll pay for the featured listing again you'd be surprised how many new people will see it

I've listed a lot for 30 days but now I list for 5 days. People have very short attention spans and they don't bid until the last day. They don't want to get in a bidding war and raise the price, so they all just sit around and wait until the last minute. I have one ... same thing. No bids yet, but I will upgrade it to front page on last day or day before last day. It gets a lot of views when you do that.

Yes ... the front page upgrade. How long it stays depends on how many other people get it too, but it's probably good for a day. I would reduce it to 5 days.

Are you sure the front page upgrade only lasts for 1 day? $29 is a lot of money to be on the first page for one day. Or is it worth it?

I have not done any site flipping on Flipper, but I learned something about auctions in my eBay experience that should apply. I used to list for the ten days because I thought that would get me more bids. I found that I got bids on the first day and then the last day. Very little action in between. Then I had a friend who was listing his sites for three days and doing well. I started doing that and got much better actiion on them. The short listing provides urgency.

I have always done well with the 30 day listing but after reading this thread I am going shorter and see how that works.

In my own experience, I get very few, if any, bids until the last day. So, I started listing for just one day. No upgrades or anything. And it's worked for me.

I list multiple sites per week, and have only had one of them end without a bid.

    Just my two cents......

5 days is what I do. Usually influences more action in my opinion. I always end up selling within the first two days though so maybe I'm just listing my sites too cheap.

    Some great advice here!
My experience, (over 150 sites on flippa) is that 5 days works best. It doesn't matter when you start the listing, as long as you cover a weekend in the cycle.
Everyone has different surfing habits so you want to try and catch as many people online as you can.
Some folks don't use the net on weekends, others only at work etc....
The thing that really helps is creating a sense of urgency.

I personally wouldn't go for more than five days. And I want my auctions to end between 6 pm and 10 pm, Monday through Thursday, but maybe Sunday evening. There is reasoning behind this: Monday through Thursday aren't the most popular days of the week and between those times everyone is at home and on the computer. Look at it like this:

Monday through Friday, 7 am to 9 am: People getting ready for work

Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm: People at work (you could take advantage of the 12 pm to 1 pm lunch)

Monday through Thursday, 6 pm to 10 pm: People at home eating and online

Monday through Thursday, 11 pm to 7 am: People sleeping

Friday, 6 pm to as late as sunrise: People partying

Saturday, all day: Sleeping from partying or just out having fun. Some people online but not really thinking about buying websites.

Sunday, 7 am to 1 pm: Church related services

Sunday, after 1 pm: At home online. There are some that go to evening church related services, but for those that are not, they could be getting ready for the new work week and could be thinking about buying that website.

Yeah, that is the typical American day, adjust for your country's time zones.

I'm super impatient, so I do 7 days but I rarely use a reserve and pay for front page promotion, it picks up views and bids quickly, and you see a huge bidding war near the end.
