Basically a DropShipper is a company that will ship a product to your customer directly from their warehouse, without you having to take possession of the product. Keeps you from having a garage full of soap, vitamins, and other stuff you are trying to sell. You just sell the product, send the money to the company (the dropshipper) and have the company ship it for you.
I think your biggest risk will be finding honest companies that will ship to your customers. There are a lot of scammers out there, and dropshipping is an easy way to get your money.
Your 3rd question is sort of broad in that you can go as deep or as shallow as you want to go in any business. Are you going to sell online or by direct mail? If you sell online are you going to have 1 website or 100? Are you going to use paid advertising to bring customers to your website, or free, generic advertising and seo? If you are going to use direct mail, are you going to mail postcards or letters? Are you going to buy a list or mail to your neighborhood out of a phone book? Are you going to mail to 100 or 1,000?
But just as in any business, you really need to do your homework. If you go to Google and search for dropshippers, dropshipping, over 2 million web pages come up. There is a lot of information there, and you need to spend time studying and learning what the process is, and how to put the business into action. There are also a lot of drop shippers on e-bay.
As for your last question, I have operated an internet affiliate marketing business for 3 years on a part-time basis, because I already have a full time+ job during the day. Start small, and grow as you gain experience. Only you know how much extra time you will have to devote to your home business. But remember that knowledge is power, and one way to waste a lot of time and lose a lot of money is to get into a business that you know little about.
