Default Beware the $100 Coaching Spam Emails (With a Funny Twist)

Just lately I’ve been getting these long emails offering coaching for $100. They’re written in poor English and come with earnings screen shots. Here’s an example of one sent to me today:

http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/1710/proof2fl4.jpg

They also seem to have a limit of 5 spots with 3 already gone. And a lot of yammering about how successful they are, yada, yada, yada. They provide a physical address and ask you to email them for payment details. I usually hit the spam button because they’re unsolicited and don’t have an unsubscribe link, but today I felt like playing.

I emailed them back asking how to pay. They sent me to plimus.com, so I asked if I could pay directly to their PayPal account and add to that huge balance in there. They said no. I said I wasn’t comfortable putting in my private details and would only pay through PayPal direct to them. They said no again – but suggested putting in all fake info except the PayPal email address.

When I asked why I couldn’t pay direct he or she said they don’t take direct payments. I said it sounded suspicious to me and commented that no one in their right mind would keep $145K in their PayPal account. They came back with if I change my mind the two spots will sell out quickly.

So I emailed back and said their original email to me was unsolicited and didn’t have the required unsubscribe link. They replied by asking me how to add one to an email.Really.

It went downhill from there.

To make a long story short, this person now is asking to retain me for $997 a month for one-on-one coaching.

Too funny – but the moral here is to be very careful about these types of offers. Someone must be promoting a way to earn quick bucks through fake coaching opportunities.

Seen a few of these dodgy looking coaching programs around.

To be honest I only buy from people I know and must advise all you new Warriors, always do your research into these people.

Just ask the question here in the forum if you're unsure about anything you're about to purchase.

There are a lot of scammers around

Yeah - that one was from Kathryn; but I found it difficult to believe the person I was emailing back and forth was a woman.

Sounds like a person you'd definitely want coaching from Not. Too many of these "fake experts" nowadays.

I've yet to receive one but it seems even WSO's have been hit or have i been seeing things? Screenshots can be faked easily too.

Hey Big Mike,

These scammers don't have a shortage of ideas do they....

Recently I've been getting strange offers:

Dear GJ,

You should have no problem setting up online accounts.
Each one can be worth up to $50 - $200+ a day, every day. (and no, it's not surveys or some other
nonsense.)

==>> http://smalur.com/4J

Once your accounts are set up, you will be able to earn up to $500-$1,000 in less than 2 hours a day. I will show you how we do that and then I will help you through the process so that YOU SUCCEED!

You can have cash income EVERYDAY! I'm talking about DAILY INC0ME that is automatic. I get so excited sharing this information! I really mean that. I get excited because I know for a fact that I can prove this to you and you will thank me and say nice things about me!

==>> http://smalur.com/4J

Ok, back to the program.

You will learn how to:

* Set up your online income accounts
* Set up your online transactions.
* Access your money online or through any ATM machine

==>> http://smalur.com/4J

I want your success,

Sonya F. Plain
sonyaplain@gmail.com

Any of you seen this one?

Regards
Greg

I got the one from Kathryn too! First thing I did was ask myself - "what would BigMike do...LOL

And personally Mike, I think your worth every penny of $997 a month!

Thanks for making me laugh today. Good to know PT Barnum is as right now as he was decades ago.

This is a classic Mike.

They're idiots that are trying to prey on people with a limited budget and desperate for results.

People often forget that you get what you pay for and no-one who is actually offering decent coaching is likely to charge so little and confuse the term coaching with mentoring.

I've done a both (coaching and mentoring) and one thing I learned a long time ago was that the lower you make the price (I always used to price lower than I used in order try and help more people) - the less action the people take.

Unfortunately, some people will go for these stupid offers out of desperation and waste their money.

Andy

Greg,

Beware of that Sonya Plain buddy!

My server was hacked through a vulnerability in one of the files on a membership site I'm developing and after my security team notified me and fixed all the issues that were caused,

I looked to check the recent activity in the admin office of the script

and there was only the name of Sonya Plain with the same gmail address

signed up as a member and I haven't even promoted the membership!

So that is too much of a coincidence in a short period of time to ignore.

Whoever is using that "Sonya Plain" name is up to no good all the way around.

I rec'd the same one last week, and just hit the spam button. I wouldn't click on any of those links if someone paid me. You never know what kind of virus you will end up with.

LOL...Actually, I'd never coach someone like that because I don't believe that they would ever really change. I'd rather focus on people with integrity than losers that have to resort to cheating others at every opportunity.

Here's something I read a while back. Loosely connected.

It's quite a long read. And it would be funny if it weren't just downright scary.

Nice post BigMike. Good to have folks giving out these kinds of heads-ups.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Global Giving Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. I have friends in Japan, none of whom -- fortunately -- were affected. But lots of people are still doing it tough. So, thank you on their behalf.

I keep getting spam from Sonya Plain.

What bothers me is that is coming in on one of my protected email accounts. I have no idea where they captured it.
