How to make the best use of link services?

I'm buying five links per topic through one of the link services. That's a total of 50 links to the same website but 10 pages.

Are there any magic numbers that I should be shooting for?

No magic numbers for backlinks.

It's a question of quality and number.

Generally speaking, buying links (like buying leads) isn't recommended.

Backlinks from articles and blogs,etc. And High PR sites are best.

to get an idea of what you're shooting for Google your Main keyword.
Then do an Alexa search on the top site.
This will show you how many in-bound links they have.
