Q => ONLINE Network Marketing?

Hello Partners:

I'm a brand new member of this highly rated Forum, and although I post on a number of other Forums - this is my first message here

Quick QUESTION? - This Forum appears targeted to INTERNET Marketing - is it considered OK to post about NETWORK Marketing here - if it's about building ONLINE ((InterNetworkMarketing))?

Quick Background - My professional background is as a Financial Advisor and a Business Consultant - but I've also been involved for over 20-years both as an Entrepreneur and a Coach in the Home Business industry - mostly within the Network Marketing industry.

I'm also active in our industry's DRA (Distributor Rights Association) - the only global, non-profit organization which serves to educate, protect and preserve the rights of Associates everywhere. I'm privileged to represent my country, Canada, on the Board Of Directors of the DRA.

Forum Rules - I want to be sure to follow the rules of this excellent Forum - so If someone would be kind enough to confirm (or otherwise) whether it is permissible to share information about - and to have discussions about - ONLINE Network Marketing issues here - I'd be most grateful. :-)

Many thanks!

    Hi Peter
    welcome to the warrior forum

I have found this to be a great place for internet marketers to get help. You will find that the more you give the more you get back.

I do not know anything about network marketing so I cannot comment on it but there isn't much talk about it here

      Hey Ken:

Nice to hear from you - and thanks.

Yes, this seems to be an outstanding place for Internet Marketers.

I'm planning to visit often - perhaps over time, InterNetwork Marketing will become better known.

      Your comments are much appreciated.

      Warmly / Peter A.

    Peter,

Have we met? I think I have come across your name in the past.

Anyway, you CAN post them ... as long as they are of interest to the rest of the community.

I appreciate the way you're approaching...

Here is what I see is the BIGGEST problem for Network Marketers coming to Warrior Forum and it doesn't seem it applies to you at all.

Many Network Marketers come in here, really have no interest in finding anything about WF. They come in and just go straight into pitch. They don't necessarily spam the forum, yet they come in and give their STRONG opinions about things nobody is interested in.

What I mean is ... many Network Marketers come in and just want to SHOW OFF (which is contrary to the true Spirit of Network Marketing industry). They like talking about business tips, ethics, ideas and hope that they'll "attract" others (but don't realize it's not working).

However, I believe most successful Network Marketers and Internet Marketers BOTH lead by example. Demonstrating leadership potential at the cost of others and truly manifesting leadership skills that add value are completely different things but some Network Marketers come in and violate this.

Then they'll stay and post about 10 posts. After that, they're gone. And they're visiting different forums and repeating this abuse.

But I think you're very different and I feel you can be a good community member. If you're still interested in discussing things pertaining to Online Network Marketing, perhaps you can talk about strategies that we all have common. You might be currently working on generating more leads through Article Marketing, WordPress work, Video Marketing... etc.

Talking specifically about a particular business opportunity won't result in a lot of replies.

      Many THANKS! :-)

      Hey Takuya and Terry:

I greatly appreciate both of your warm and helpful comments - many thanks for this.

Takuya - I'm not sure if we've met before or not - but I'm very happy we did so here.

I fully resonate with the points you make above. I also agree with what you say about most Network Marketers "pushing their deals" at folks.

Unfortunately, most were 'trained' in this (OLD school) way of marketing (by those who were trained exactly the same way before them).

Personally, I believe it all started back before the INTERNET - where most MLMrs could not afford to use the same kinds of advertising methods as Big Business did (TV / Radio / Print Media / Billboards, etc) - and thus, they reverted to things like - making a list - bugging family, friends & co-workers - buying leads - making cold calls - mall pouncing - putting out flyers & brochures on bulletin boards & car windshields - the '3-foot-rule - motel / holtl meetings, etc - all the while "showing the plan" // "pushing their products & services" // trying to "recruit - recruit - recriuit".

These different ways of "chasing people down" were pretty much all uncomfortable, highly stressful, unprofessional ways to build 'any' Network Marketing business, because they caused situations where MLMrs constantly faced objections - rejection - attrition.

Then, along came the Internet - it opened up a whole new opportunity for Network Marketers - but most have either been afraid of it - or sadly, they're still using these same old tactics with their ONLINE building strategies, on Forums / Discussion Boards / Social Networking Sites / Blogs. etc.

Internet ATTRACTION MARKETING - Instead, today's Network Marketer should be generously providing high VALUE information and content to potential prospects / customers / clients / patients / associates. In my opinion, today's Network Marketer (and Internet Marketer and Affiliate Marketer) ought to become "solutions providers" for those who are seeking answers to their main questions, problems and concerns.

LOA - Today's Network Marketer should be 'embracing' the whole idea of the principle of the Law Of Attraction. They (we) ought to be "giving to GIVE" - and in the process, building some trust and developing a relationship - before ever discussing their "deals" (the courtship before the marriage proposal :-).

YOU, Inc - This is all about self-branding -vs- promoting the company / product / service / comp plan (something that MLM companies and Uplines are usually nervous of) - this will help "attract" people because of the Trust Factor.

Anyway, these are just some thoughts that come quickly to mind, Takuya. There's a wonderful opportunity for people to create a strong financial future in the Network Marketing sector - where the power of 'both' leverage and residual income come into play. And this is especially important in the current global economic crisis. But 21st century marketing principles must be employed to find success and happiness.

      Again, my thanks.

      Sincerely / Peter A.

PS - I just bought your eBook - look forward to reading it! :-)

      Dear Terry:

Good to see you here! I notice you've been here since the early 2000's.

Yes, it has been a long time from when we both used to share on another popular Forum (I think you still do).

I want to THANK you for your warm endorsement above! That was very kind of you - and it applies equally to you too! :-)

Over the years, I always sought out your messages - much information and wisdom provided.

I hope this finds you well and in good cheer.

Highest regards, Terry // Peter A.

Many MLM companies are still training people the old way (if that can be considered training). You are quite often prohibited from having your own website to promote the company and have to have any ads you write pre-approved (which probably won't happen)... so people are stuck with the old school method of hassling friends and family, or have to break the company rules and risk getting caught.

          Hey Chris:

Good to have you interact on this - thanks.

What you say is quite true - most Network Marketing companies are in fact, terrified of the Internet. It's in their strict P&Ps (Policies & Procedures) - I've written extensively about this issue on many of my own Websites, on Forums, etc.

But the corporate fear is primarily in terms of allowing their Reps to have websites promoting (or even 'mentioning') the company / products / services.

Personally, I have no problem with that - the company is simply trying to 'protect' itself (for the benefit of all) against the very things that Gov't Regulators frown on - such as unjustified "income claims" by Reps stemming from the Comp Plan and/or reckless "medical claims" for the products of their Nutritional MLMs.

PERSONAL Websites - In my opinion, Network Marketers should not even be 'using' such websites (they're usually replicated sites, sometimes with an About Me page). First of all, these sites do not rank in the Search Engines - but far more importantly, they do nothing to build that critical TRUST factor or develop that solid Relationship with prospects first (before 'pushing their deal' at prospects), as I mention above.

UAF - Instead, Network Marketers need to be more engaged in building their OWN websites - developing their "own" UAF (Unique Attraction Factor). As long as they do not mention their MLM company / products / services, that's perfectly fine - the companies have no control over that, thankfully.

Then, by utilizing the ONLINE Attraction Marketing model that I talk about above - using the multitude of (mostly Free WEB-02) advertising & promotion avenues available now - they can safely (and comfortably) build their "own" LISTS - by offering high value information and solutions to prospects (Educational Marketing) - and later on, expose their opportunities, etc.

It's a whole new era for Network Marketers now with the advantages of ONLINE Marketing - but only IF the Internet used as a "tool" to build according to the right business, financial and relationship principles.

          Thanks again Chris.

          Sincerely / Peter A.
