flexibility2 is awesome. I have no problems running it on 2.9.2. What kind of problems are you experiencing?

I haven't tried flexibility2. Sounds like you want a theme that is fully customizable from the admin side -- ie, no coding? Option for magazine-style presentation?

(Usually, I just use css to meet my customization needs, so for me all themes are pretty customizable -- after v 2.9, especially so).

Honestly, you really don't need to go there. I'd basically have to write a you textbook in response to that, lol (and I'm not the man for that job). Best thing is a theme that offers those options without having to fiddle around with code.

              hai,

              Use thesis theme.
If you look at any search results for a particular keyword in google..

most of the time you will get two out of 10 results having thesis theme in its blog..

The styles.css should be visible in the editor as well. If not it's usually in the directory ".../themes/[theme name]/styles.css". Just download and use a text editor.

            Cheers

I use Woo themes for the sites I sell, which are niche blogs rather than sales page types of blogs. I bought developer's licenses for Flexibility and a lot of other themes but stick with Woo most of the time.

I really enjoy the Theme Hybrid framework. It's highly flexible once you figure out how to use it. There are a few templates aka child themes you can use with it. You can put content just about anywhere. The amount of widget positions is ridiculous. Especially if you d/l the Hybrid Hook plugin to go with it. While the theme itself is free, the support isn't. It's $25 a year. If you'll need a lot of questions answered about how to hack at it then it might not work for you.

I like ThemeHybrid myself and use it a lot, but it really isn't simple. However, support -- if you pay for it -- is great and ongoing and questions get answered with detailed and useful responses. In fact, the support is superior to that offered by many expensive themes. If someone does want to learn about tapping the potential of style.css as it relates to Wordpress, ThemeHybrib + plus its paid support is a great way to begin. In Wordpress 2.9+, with the right themes -- eg ThemeHybrid -- style.css can be applied to do all sorts of nifty things like specify different styles for different pages within the site.

Of course it all depends on what you're after.

If you're looking to create sales pages and optin pages, you're better
off using WordPress PPC which is the latest theme designed just for that.

However, if you're into creating blogs and review sites, go ahead and pick
up a copy of Thesis theme-best one I have used. Very flexible, easily
    tweaked and simple in use.

The easiest to customise *without* touching code is
probably the Headway theme. It has a visual-editor
that shows your changes in real-time in a preview
window, while you drag & drop elements...

Thesis is probably the most matured theme on the
market, and is used by many "A-list" bloggers. Without
touching code, it's fairly limited in design-ability though
to a half-capable coder, it's a nice canvas to work on
    and is my own preference.

Frugal is a lesser-known theme that can do more
than Thesis design-wise before touching code. It's
    certainly worth looking up.

Socrates theme is new on the scene and is aimed
at creating monetised sites. It's limited in design
options, though the ability to use the included
header images from different niche categories will
    please some folks.

Yep - I bought Socrates several weeks ago and am very happy with how fast I can get a site up and running. Incidentally, I also created 102 Socrates headers that Socrates users can get for $5. Here's the link -

I really like thesis theme, it's easy to used and easy to design, you can make 2 coloums or 3 coloums or even 1 coloum. it's very flexible.

Just wanted to add you can do that with Headway and Frugal too and they're both easier to customize (appearance-wise) than Thesis. Not taking anything away from Thesis, it's a very good theme, though I found Frugal and Headway to be a lot easier to customize.

I am brand new to IM.

I was going to join one of the Theme Clubs, but ended up buying 13 sites from fellow Warrior cashcow (Lee Dobbins).

I view them as deluxe themes, as for a few dollars you get ready-to-go WP sites.

I just rewrote the supplied articles, wrote a few new ones, and am now doing social bookmarking.

Can't recommend Lee's products highly enough.

Question for everyone: do "SEO" themes, like Thesis, really make a difference?

IMHO it is one of the best SEO Wordpress Themes which I have used to rank websites (and can be customised without knowing much about CSS, HTML, PHP etc and has an excellent support forum).

However, if you like the appearance of another Theme, simply install the Platinum SEO Plugin which also works really well.

Alternatively you might find a skin for Thesis that you like.

Does anyone here used the tigopedia wordpress theme. It's free one but it's customize. One problem i am getting from this theme is the image is taking too place in the article. Mean to say the image is coming in the middle of the content if i try to put the image right or left.

And if the image showing right or left side of the page the content is coming after the image not with image.

Any idea how to edit this one ?

I would try looking at a few galleries for WordPress themes. Are you looking for something in particular (newspaper style, etc.)?

Here are a few sites to try:
      NewWPThemes.net
      themeforest.net
      Stylewp.net

A little tip. With any theme you download I would run TAC (a wordpress plugin that checks for "malicious links or spammy links") -

There seems to be lately some sites that offer 'free' WP themes where some of the code has been ofuscated. ... so as you look for themes, watch out for these.

There are great suggestions here for best themes, you might want to stick with those to be safe.

    TIP

Stay away from blacklisted theme sites:

    - freewordpressthemes4u dot com
    - qualitywordpress dot com
    - wpthemesfree dot com
    - wordpressthemebase dot com
    - topwpthemes dot com
    - wpthemes360 dot com

Even better, avoid encrypted themes entirely. They're always malicious in some fashion. There is no legitimate reason for a theme author to encrypt a theme file.

While you're testing themes, install and run the TAC plugin, (theme authenticator). If the theme has any encrypted codes it should pick it up. A great plugin, in my opinion.

Hi, I couldn't resist commenting on this thread.

Flexsqueeze is coming out with a killer upgrades. So if you are wanting a ready made theme with really nice salespage templates, and great designing, then this is the one.

If you are wanting a fully SEO integrated blog that does very well in the search engines, and you like and are comfortable spending time to customize, tweak, and make it your own, then Thesis theme is what you want.

The best WordPress theme available in my opinion is the Headway theme. It allows you true design customization and you do not need to be a technical genius to do it.

It is simply drag-and-drop customization that really rocks.

I use it for all of my sites and cannot recommend it enough

I'm surprised no one has mentioned atahualpa...unless I missed it.

It's kind of like Thesis, highly customizeable only it's free. I'm sure it's missing some of the options, but it's the one I'm using on my blog and I like it.

If you have some time to tinker, it'd be a good one as you can make it look like anything you want.
