and do social bookmarking like crazy. Before you start, make

Build a list to pre-sell the gaming site while you are still building it.

You could do a video series, or something along those lines, with free tips and guides to get people to opt-in, and while people are receiving content you can pre-sell the site.

A free method is to use YouTube video targeting.

Find people promoting games via YouTube and create similar titles, tags and description (don't copy, make it similar).

Then upload another similar video on a regular basis. Videos that have talking in them rank better than just music and text on the screen. Why? Because YouTube/Google has technology that converts talk into text. That's right, they now know if you are just uploading the same video over and over again with different tags, titles and descriptions. So go ahead and take the time to change them a little at the beginning, middle and end.

If you make enough videos and submit them to a lot of video sites you will get some good traffic.

You don't say exactly what sort of site you are looking at building but if it's arcade related then you can get some great advice on the forum at talkarcades [dot] com.

Even if it's more retail/affiliate related, you may find some people over there with experience (there are even some IMers over there). Nice bunch of folks.

If its a Flash Arcade. You need to write long description about the game using key words associated with the that game. Do just slap some 5000 game package up and leave the default text. Build your content with your game descriptions.
Also every single game that you put on your site is link bait for who ever created the game. It will have a Url leading off your site.
Promote your site on Stumble Upon do not only stumble your site but each of the Top 100 games. If you have friends have them give a thumbs up on the site.
Flash Arcade are not easy but you can get to 2k daily vists with other people content

1.Promotion by means of video's using free services like tube moghul.
2.You also write some articles and submit it to top article directories.

Get all the plugins for your site if using wordpress, including social bookmarking tools and ping tools most are free from wordpress.

Work on content make it unique, The more content you have the better the chances of being seen and also sitemap your site to google so it can crawl a lot quicker. Someone mentioned backlinks well the best way for a gaming site is contacting other webmasters with the same sites who will do direct link swaps with you the warrior forum has that part to contact people in the swap or buy links section. But focus on staying on your niche. Quantity on backlinks,

Find directorys which is gaming niches or infomation. And submit your link keywords and descriptions. Every time you always update the site use ping.fm or pinglar to let the search engines know were to find it.

The best for gaming because there so many out there for example ea.com forums. if they have signiture links add your blog. comment regularly.

Amazon are the powerhouse for games no agurement because you can use the traffic to your avantage by leaving reviews with your link to the site on games or gaming consoles,Or review the new ps3 or xbox360,Whatever your can find any infomation our on anything by there expert writers who have researched the items and use there keywords for traffic, Plus also being a amazon affilate will make you commisions on the blog also per lead and sale.

Start with content then move on up, What i have done with all my sites and now there all on page one on search engines with good traffic.

gaming sites is a great way to earn money nowadays. n just like others have spoken, you should focus on video marketing with all the tags and market demand being researched first and foremost. a nice feature in Youtube and most other video site is that you can respond to a video posted by other users by submitting your video. that way yours'll get recognition from the high traffic video from the other guy. it's kinda like stealing their customers, but in a legal way
