What do You Do When the SERPs are Filled with Adsense and Product Pics?

I am wondering if it is worth it to try to rank for a keyword phrase that's a popular product. It seems that the top half of Google's first page is taken up by a big block of Adsense first and then a bunch of product pics from the shopping section.

Even if you got the #1 ranking for this phrase, your site would appear literally below the fold for most people.

Is it worth it even trying to compete? ... Does anyone have EXPERIENCE in this matter? If so, what were your results like?

    it doesnt worth it. i`m rank for keyword that has 6 youtube videos and pictures, so basically they are only 3 spots for regullar sites, and if i`m not lucky then a google news pop ups and left only 2 spots for regullar website.

    anyway, i should have got 40,000 visitors a month (according to google keyword tool) and i get only 1200 because everyone is clicking on the youtube videos

      Hrmmm .... theres a clue.

      Wonder if the youtube vid owners rent space? How hard might it be to rank a youtube video of your own?
