How to connect hostgator nameserver into namecheap?

Dear Warriors,

I have bought domain at namecheap and web host on hostgator. How do I connect them?

Namecheap tell me to choose the host name and enter the IP for register my nameserver. Hostgator have gave me two of them - nsXXXX.hostgator.com

Since there is no option to input nameserver like those (nsXXXX.hostgator.com) so I look up what is those nameservers' IP addresses with IP Address Lookup (IPv4 & IPv6)

I got IP addresses of my nameservers...
And I have input it into namecheap...

Did I do it correctly?

Because, when I connecting with filezilla it always said, "could not connect to server".

Go into: Manage Domains->Select Your Domain->Transfer DNS To Webhost

So that what I missing. About what have I done, do I need to clear what I have entered?

I've entered IP addresses on 'Nameserver Registration'

Goto manage domains and tick to edit the domain in question. Next select the "Domain Name Server Setup" link. Now check the second button that is for "Specify Custom DNS Servers" and enter your 2 given to you into block 1 and 2 then save. ( They will look like ns111.hostgator.com and ns222.hostgator.com )

Later when registering more domains, you can actually enter this info during the registration process to save a little time.

No, you do NOT enter anything for nameserver registration!

You follow exactly the steps outlined by Jack Powers above. Nothing else.

If you cannot connect to your server after following the nameserver suggestions above, you might not have entered in the info in Filezilla correctly. If you just purchased the domain, you may need to use your IP address for your hosting plan rather than the domain name until it resolves. You also need to enter your user name and password in Filezilla to connect.

I use both Hostgator and Namecheap and the process that you should use to get it to work is to login to NameCheap and click on the domain you want to change the nameservers on.

Then click on "Domain Name Server Setup" on the left menu, click the "Specify Custom DNS Servers ( Your own DNS Servers )" radio button and then enter the two nameservers in the text fields named 1 and 2.

Hit save changes and once the nameservers are propagated the site will be live. Propagation can take a few days, but usually it will be complete within 24 hours.

Once you change the DNS so the domain points to hostgator, you will need to wait a few hours or up to a day for the DNS to propagate through the web. Be certain you are using the correct DNS for your Hostgator acct.

I don't know what you are saying there - HG tells you what DNS to use - it will be ns1 and ns2 or could be ns243 and ns244 or something different. It's in the emails you receive when you get your hosting account.

If you can't find the right DNS, use HG live chat to find out what it is.
