HELP! Thesis WP theme & skin installation.

Ok... I am NOT a wordpress guy but in a move to more efficiency I want to start using wordpress as a main site using thesis and a thesis skin I found.

Here is the problem... I've installed thesis without a hitch, but I"m trying to install the freshcompany skin for it and i can't figure it out!

I am a technical guy so this is bugging me...

Here is the guide I'm following and I do have the installation plugin installed correctly. I just don't think I'm uploading the skin to the correct directory.

    I would head over to the Thesis support forum. As a Wordpress guy, I find Thesis one of the hardest themes to work with (put that is a whole different story) .

    It looks like you just need their special import plugin to import the skin.

      Yup, figured it out...


      I pulled a 16hr day today and I'm nearing my end... things aren't making much sense at the moment.

      Back to the grind tomorrow - at least I'll be free after Wed

    Thesis is a great theme, used it myself. But maybe you should have looked at Headway, much easier to work with.

    I use Thesis, too (see link).

    My husband does the design work, and even though he was able to create a great design, I know he finds Thesis frustrating at times.

    Hi Mel,

    Great site and theme!

    DIYThemes provides good Thesis Wordpress themes though I do believe it's more complicated to customize -- I don't do any of the designing at the moment anyway since I outsource them already and good thing I got a good web developer.

    Hi,

    I already have a few custom themes I need installed. I need my DIY Thesis theme, UBD Affiliate theme, UBD Squeeze theme installed.

    I just need the themes to look 25% different than the default.

    If anyone knows where I may find someone to install and setup, please PM me.

      Lets face it thesis is harder than hell for web developers who want true customisation. It really needs you to learn css, php and code. IE the just add this code (< read more>) (Hey that's what it says in thesis), but the ten + hours I spent searching the internet because it didn't work.

      And the the two week of 14 hour days trying to solve another issue, and then last week the three night until 3 AM trying to get a skin to work...after reading a tutorial which is obviously wrong...as are so many otherwise, none of us would be posting here.

      But lets face it as bad as it is from that point of view we still use it because of the excellent options it gives us.

      I have been tossing up the idea of creating a macro (I own plr macro software) that could be set up to automatically upload, add all the correct keywords, install the theme, and or skin, etc. I have lost around 3 -4 weeks on thesis customisation issues over the last 6 - 8 months and have finally got some excellent skins, but I have lost so much time on thesis I don't really have the time anymore to do the macro's.

      Would anyone be interested in this
      A: to customise the macros'.
      B: to purchase the program/macro if it was made available with all the macros included?
      C: My ideal goal would be to literally have series of macro's written for total customisation of thesis. Meaning if you had something you wanted done you could just run a macro, go get a cuppa and when you came back it was done.

      If I create something like this could you tell me what customisations you would like included and what current problems/ issues you are having.

      It would help us all.
