I seem to be getting the Google IP ban more often than in the past. This happens even without using keywords tools - just regular keyword research done manually.

Does anyone have a solution for preventing this or handling it when it happens?

Usually happens to me after I do a lot of keyword research using Market Samurai or doing a lot of one of the specialized searches on google such as on this thread.

Hmmm...It's been happening even when I don't run keyword tools, but I do run specialized searches - my way of determining competition.

      I wonder if it's related.

Its happening to me too when i do keyword research

After entering keywords and looking at the first page results to look at the competition the google ban kicks in, usually after 5-8 different keyword searches, bloody annoying.

I tried using that hide my ass site but when the results come up it knocks my seoquake thingy off, its a bugger

    From past experience of lol...

It seems that the amount of beating they take from an IP address lays weight on how quickly they IP ban you.

For instance if you get banned a couple times a day using keyword tools, scraping, or whatever you are doing to get them going....it seems that you are more likely to be banned quicker...

The first few times the ban is usually gone in about 15min...and that time seems to grow also the more you get IP banned.

Why I use paid proxies for that...

Google reduced the amount of queries before ban about 3-4 weeks ago. They are a real pain to scrape now.

Ok, that is their business I guess, but yesterday I went to Google to do a search for something and I got the IP Ban right out of the box. Hadn't used any Google stuff before that. I had got it once before but they gave me a capture box to use to overcome it and prove I was a human, but not any more. I started a thread about this a few days ago, but what you gonna do? Kind of sucks.

I sent them a message through some link I found, but of course I never got any response to it.!

I have run into this a lot lately as well. But I expect it, I do an awful lot of keyword research, it has gotten kind of crazy lately though.

As a side note, I also have quite a few friends in graduate programs that do a lot of research using google, and they have started running into this problem as well. I'm sure at some point the G will find a better threshold for IP bans, if not bing and yahoo will start to receive more user searches. Just some food for thought.

They have a stricter ip ban for special operators. Like "site:". I am running up against this now and makes it a pain I can only scrape 1,000 results or so now.

It's normally only a temporary ban. But if you want to skip it, you can use elite private proxy ( i use proxy to continue my keyword research)
