Are You a James Brown 'Hit It & Quit' Marketer?

For your entertainment...

They called James Brown "the hardest working man in showbiz", but he also coined the phrase "Hit It & Quit"; which was his live performance signal to his band to go to a certain rehearsed "phrase" -- play it and finish the song. Usually a series of "hits" in succession that ended the song with a big 'bang'.

I have absolutely NO intention on insulting anyone, but more and more I see the average Warrior/Marketer speaking in terms of "Hit It & Quit" style business. Meaning, push that one-off affiliate product (whether it be a recurring product/service or not) ... be done with it and push the next one.

Now, I've been working on the Internet since '97 so I'm well aware how Affiliate Marketing has progressed. I see very well how there are many who make a pretty nice living from only pushing affiliate style business. I also understand, (and greatly appreciate), the fact that many business owners love and appreciate their affiliates; (sh**, I'm one of them).

BUT, at the same time, (if you're an Affiliate Marketer), don't you think that IF you did not employ the "Hit It & Quit" mentality towards your Customers that it might be that much easier to sell more stuff to them; (or push more affiliate business through your chosen funnel)?

What I'm talking about is Customer Follow-up. And I don't mean following up with them through an auto-responder telling them how they need to jump on the next product you're pushing. I'm talking about genuine Customer Follow-up where you inquire whether or not they're satisfied with the product you last recommended to them.

I don't know; maybe I'm naive. But, if I bought something from someone's recommendation and they went out of their way to contact me a week or even two weeks later about that particular purchase... "Say Will? How's that Widget A working out for you? Are you getting the mileage you thought you would? Didn't I tell you it would be a great purchase? Ya know, I just came across something that would greatly compliment Widget A.. would you be interested?" I'd respond pretty positively, to them.

I'd respond even more positively if that person just contacted me to "check in".. see how I was doing. I might even LOOK FOR THEM the next time I'm wanting to purchase something... "What do You recommend, Joe?"

..... hmmm

Just a thought. If you're already doing this.. KUDOS to you!

If you're not... think about it. It just might strengthen your bottom line.
