Default Made My First Sale!! But Dont Understand

Ok, when I logged into my Clickbank account, I seen that I made my first of 31.64. But I don't quite understand Clickbank. Where does it show me how much I made from the sale or my account balance? It took me 2 weeks to make my first sale. Just wanted to add that in.

First, sign into your account.

The amount shown is what you earned.

For further information, click on "Reports" top right of the page. (Think it's 2nd from the right)

That should tell you all you want to know.

I did all that, but I still dont see where I can view the total amount owed, like account balance. My minimum payout is 25, so when do I get paid? I am not looking to get paid any time soon, but I want to understand how Clickbank works. I read the site but is still a little confused.

Hi mekap, I think Clickbank also has rules that stated that you must have got sales or transactions from 5 different credit cards, excluding Paypal, before they can release your check. So, even though you already reached payout, Clickbank won't pay you until you fulfil that sales requirement. To be honest, till now I still don't understand why they made this stupid rule.

The other thing is Clickbank will also deduct some percentage of your earning if your account is considered to be "dormant" for some periods of time. That's why last time my first $25 sale disappeared into oblivion, since I can't request payout for my commission and Clickbank thought that my account is "dormant". So, every month of my "dormant period", Clickbank kept deducting my commission until I was left with absolutely nothing.

I'm really pissed off actually since even though it was only $25, it was still the results of my efforts and hard works.

Wow, I didnt know that. This has cleared things up for me a bit. I understand now. What is a dormant account though? I hope its not making any sales because we cant help that. Thanks for the information. It was really helpful.

I don't think the rule itself is stupid, at least not the likely intent.

One of the weaknesses of Clickbank's hoplink system is that it's very easy to sign up for a free account, substitute your own ID for another affiliate's, and essentially use the account to give yourself a big discount. At the same time, you are robbing the other affiliate of their earned commission.

So Clickbank made that more difficult. They required transactions from multiple credit cards. Where I think they got it wrong was in the number of different buyers required. In my opinion, requiring three different payment sources, and allowing Paypal to count as one, would have been a good compromise.

Of course, that opinion and about $3.50 will get you a small cappucino at Starbuck's...

Yes mekap, unfortunately that's the meaning of dormant account. If you haven't made sales for some periods of time, Clickbank will start deducting your commission earnings. At that time after I've got my first sale, I stopped doing IM for a couple of months since I'm a bit busy with my college and homeworks. Couples of months later, when I checked my Clickbank account, there is nothing left there, all my commission was disappeared, gone... It turns out that Clickbank kept deducting percentage of my commission every month, since I haven't made any sales in those time periods.

To be honest, I'm completely disagree with this rule, because it can actually discourage newbies, who just made 1 or 2 sales, by taking away all their hard-work earnings and commissions from them. I really hope Clickbank can start to change this policy though.

Yes, I agree with you John. I think the requirements of sales or transactions from 5 different credit cards, which does not include Paypal, is just a bit too much. Because if you are just a complete newbie who just started out and doesn't make much sales yet, this policy can be a little discouraging in my opinion.

Hi,

From your home page, you'll see at top left a box headed Weekly Sales Snapshot. Each item listed is by pay period. Any sales that are listed in that long list at the bottom of that box, it will show within the box as Week Ending and Gross Sales. The week ending is a clickable link. It will take you to all sales you've made for that pay period.

On that other page, you will also see everything related to your sale, including commission, costs, , refunds, something called a "release" (will explain in a minute) and how much you will get paid. The last column shows when they actually send payment to you.

Release -= to protect their own backs, CB holds back a certain percent of each payment to you. This is to cover when people return the product. If CB pays you before the refund takes place, they will lose money. So even though you think you'll be getting $37 whatever, you actually will get less than that.

And yes, it's true. If you don't make another sale within a certain period of time, CB will begin deducting money from your account. I never did understand why, since they really aren't DOING anything except hanging onto your money.

I used to have $12 from one of my sales, but since that product is not being promoted and, in fact, is now obsolete, I don't plan on selling anymore. But since $12 is below the payment limit, it gradually dwindled away to 0.

I totally relate to your situation. When I first started out, I wasn't making many sales at all, and everything I did make was absorbed by CB. It was upsetting to see that happen, especially when you're first starting out and learning the ropes. Of course you aren't going to make sales that quickly - until you get your feet wet.

If you've sold a product already, then I'd recomend you do a major push to advertise and make more sales. Do article marketing. Anything that gets the word out there quickly so you can attract customers.

Hi again,

Let me just clarify...

When you click that pay period link from your home page, it takes you to a different page than where you land if you hit "Reports". But under the "Reports" section, you can click the "Period Ending" in the left colmn and it will take you to that same page you arrived at from the pay period link on the home page.

Sounds confusing, I know. Hope it makes sense. Just look around in your account. Click all those tabs and any active links related to your payments, etc. and you'll see what I mean.
