For newbies without $ for hosting

I just read a thread today about wordpress. I just wanna give tips to bloggers who wants to have a website or blogs without paying for hosting.

I bought a domain name and map it on wordpress and I found out this

wordpress TOC

The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes and plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and must still abide by our Terms of Service accordingly.

And I was planning to use the blog for advertising.

Wordpress only allows advertisements on blogs created using other host they are affiliated.

So what I am telling here is if you are planning to create blogs. I recommend blogger . Free or with your own domain.

For bloggers that don't wanna spend $ use blogger.

Good tip, but why start off with your business trying to cut corners?

You can get hosting for under $5 a month. Then you have full control to make as much as you want.

You can get hosting for $4.95 at hostgator.
Don't cut back on hosting as it is important.

If you cannot afford $5 a month for hosting, then you should not get started until you can. Putting effort into a free hosted account almost always ends in heartache. You build it up and then realize that you do not actually own any assets. It is all owned by the hosting provider. Invest the $5 a month or come back to IM when you can.

You can try using hostgator shared hosting plan it is cheap, however if you can't you may want to try 000webhost.com, they have a free hosting plan without ads that includes php, mysql and fantastico, there you can host your wordpress blog with your domain name, however if you can invest in a hosting it's better. Why? because a lot of spammers use free hosting accounts to do spamming so if you share your hosting with some spammer the search engines may penalize your blog for no reason. I wouldn't recommend going the blogger route because you are not building equity and you are just building someone else business.

Blogger is notorious for pulling down blogs without warning. Pretty much any commercial blog violates their TOS, so they can take your hard work down at any time.

Seems like a pretty shaky foundation to build a business on, wouldn't you say? Especially when you can get your own hosting and protect yourself from this for under $5/month...

I would seriously advise anyone to make sure they have enough money for hosting before even thinking about starting out online, first and foremost you need to have complete control of you're online assets.

Like others have said here, it's best to start off
with your own hosting from the first day. Trust me,
you will be the happier for it at the end of the day.

Okay, if you are not willing to pay the $5 or so
monthly for hosting, go with the below service.
You can register a domain name for them and get
a full year's hosting for just $20 (or less).

    Hope this helps,

How come you used the word "are" after Blogger? It doesn't sound right to me. "Is" seems more appropriate. So, being a wordsmith, I was wondering if you could ask you to help me out on that.

I would write "Blogger is", but if that is incorrect, I'd rather not come across as an ignoramus - so if you could explain why you used the word "are", I'd really appreciate.
She was probably referring to the multiple folks at Blogger that make the types of decisions discussed above.

Thus, that makes the word Blogger plural (in context). Using "is" describes something singular, while using "are" to make a comparison, is for describing something in a plural context.

      Just a thought.

Yep, that's essentially the way I meant it.

You could apply the same example to describing this forum.

I agree that in some cases it probably wouldn't sound right.

Ha ha ha, English can be funny,
I think Alexa used "are" referring to
Blogger as a company with lots of
      staff(s?) so "they" are...

Better to use your own host free blogs are only good for driving traffic to your own domain and sometimes for getting back links and that depends on if their blogs are DO FOLLOW blogs.

Hosting is really part of your business expenditure. You shouldn't be looking for ways to not spend money for things that really matter on your bottom line after all.
