Is Outsourcing Other Countries Worth It.

Hey Everyone

Here is my dilemma.

I out source alot of my work from the phillipines because its cheap.

But is it really worth it.

Maybe it is just my experience but the last 4 times i outsourced some work, it was just not great work.

Now not everything is bad such as articles.

I have had some great articles written.

But when it comes to programming and web design,i just have had some really crappy work done.

Whats your experience?

Is it worth it to you.

So does the saying apply to out sourcing also. (You Get What You Pay For)

Let me know what you think.

I guess it depends what line of work you're looking at. For programming & web design, you might want to look at India. Don't get me wrong, there are good programmers/web designers in the Philippines but I would say there are more in India.

      Thanks for the reply.

I have tried india and have had some decent articles written but never tried outsourcing a coder.

      Thanks for the suggestion.

Keep in mind that I'm an American born writer, so my opinions are biased, but...
Yes, you get what you pay for. People who have had a degree and education in an English speaking environment will generally have the self-awareness and self-confidence to price themselves more in line with their abilities. Coding is generally a universal language despite your actual cultural upbringing and native language, but writing requires a definite amount of immersion in the language of choice.

    Hi Craig,

That depends on the person/company that you have hired. Outsourcing has always its advantages and disadvantages. You need to ask for samples and client references. I suggest to hire a Staff leasing company instead of a freelancer. because leased staff are permanent workers of a company and are easy to reach in case you need them.

I could not agree more. Every place has its good workers and bad workers. We just have to be more particular in choosing someone.

Irrespective of which country you are outsourcing to, you need to look at the samples/references before awarding a project so that you know what to expect.

Outsourcing can be done with cheap workers from India, Phillipines, and Indonesia. In terms of article writing, I think India is the best of the three. If it's coding related, India & Indonesia are in the same league. But comparing their national currency, I think Indonesian Rupiah is the weaker from the three. So in terms of price Indonesians have the cheapest price.
