Well I use, three servers, and each one is different, I am not sure about the best, one but I can tell you about the worst, one, G 0 daddy.

Stay well away from their hosing, I mean hosting,

I have been using hostgator for years, and while they may not be perfect, they are reliable,

They certainly aren't the best by a long shot but neither are they the worst. They have reasonable uptime, good support, are a stable established business (ie aren't likely to fold up business because they get tired of the hosting biz) and don't shut down your account for using a WordPress plugin or theme with SEO in the title like DreamHost and others do.

I've got about a dozen WP blogs still on GoDaddy with no problems. They haven't been the only host recently though to have hackers causing havoc with WordPress installs.

I do get that, but that actually can be said about almost any company. You're right thou they should listen to their customers aka users using the CPanels, I admit it does get confusing what needs to be done.

Personally I'd like to find out if there's any real proof about this claim I've heard on this forum regarding their programming prevents any real page listings on Google. (I have asked a few of their customer service reps and they say no its not, but I can say that Bigfoot is helping me out programming)

It could after all just be me, I did start a long, long time ago and old habits seem very hard to break sometimes..

Hostgator for me. Although I've worked with bluehost for some of my clients and I didn't have any problem with them.

Well, it depends. You should first investigate how it was hacked. It could be because of the flaw in php or mysql configuration. Do you use Wordpress instance provided by JustHost or you installed it yourself? Here's interesting article on how to choose wordpress host with some interesting points like what are the things to look for and what can be ignored like whether Linux server should be chosen or Windows.

Both Hostgator and Site5 have Fantastico making a Wordpress install no harder than the click of a button. Of course you will still need to select your theme, plugins and customize the blog.

And as mentioned stay away from Godaddy. Besides having an awkward (to say the least) control panel they been having some major security issues as of lately with their own website and web sites they host especially wordpress blogs.

I've heard a lot of negativity on Godaddy, but yet no real proof. I am NOT promoting them at all. But it seems to me it's all a matter of personal preference.

I've been mad at them as well, and had my own share of problems. They did make it up to me and offered some comp's but you have to ask for them and demand it. But that is the same for any company IMHO.

As well I have heard that Godaddy prevents Google listing, I don't know how true this one is either. This is regards to top level domain name (www.) which most often you cannot get with Godaddy.

        Just my two cents..

But isn't that possibly the fault of the individual website owner for not updating blogs with security patches & updates or even picking too easy of a password for a FTP login??

I'm just asking, not trying to get a flame war going here.

I current use Future Hosting to host my sites - 2 vbulletin forums, 2 wordpress blogs, on a quad core dedicated server with 8 gigs of memory.

After Future Hosting - I recommend Host Gator.

Hostgator are def the best for shared and reseller hosting for wordpress blogs, with Bluehost chasing HG's coat tails

However if and when you get a few blogs with serious traffic, and they are on the same account I have experienced a bit of downtime, so now when a blog starts to get traffic in droves I have a dedicated server. But we are talking "serious" traffic here

      HostGator #1

Several things to consider when choosing a hosting provider:

      • 64 MB memory for WordPress and other applications
      • 1 click backup that backs up ALL websites and ALL mySQL and ALL eMail
If your hosting provider doesn't have the above items get one that does.

I have 25+ WP and Simple Machine Forums websites up and running on 1 Hostgator account and backup each night and download the 2GB zip backup as I sleep. I sleep knowing that all those snot nosed teeny bobbers with bad hygiene can hack and hack away and I have a weeks worth of backups on my home PC.

I have two hosting accounts with hostgator and they have never disappointed me.

Their customer service is superb! I've used their 24/7 live chat, a ton of times, and even in there peak hrs. I get someone to help me within a few minutes.

To install wordpress onto one of your domains is simple and only takes a minute or two.
