Social Bookmarking toolbar?

TWO QUESTIONS...

I just know there's got to be an easier way to bookmark your sites and any you find interesting.

I've been finding the link to the bookmark site and then manually entering the details of the site name, description, etc.

Is there some sort of social bookmarking toolbar that enables you to quickly click a bookmark site link while you're on a page you want to bookmark?

Another forum offers members an opportunity to get traffic by asking others to bookmark or otherwise help promote your site. Some members seem to have tons of bookmark sites they do for you. I'm feeling somewhat inadequate for this using my clunky method.

SECOND QUESTION...

Also... how do you get all the social bookmarking icons on your blog? Like the Forum has. Some blogs have a whole gang of icons that appear at the bottom of each post. I want that for my Wordpress blog but have no idea how to do it.

Thanks for your help.

Sylvia

OK... I got the second question covered in terms of finding the button link for my site, but how do I add it to my Wordpress blog?

We did this one a while back
Del.icio.us Mod for phpLD 3.3 : PHP Link Directory Script
Is that sort of what you meant?

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

      Hi,

I have no idea what that is... or what a phpLD is for, where to find it, where to put it, how to use it !

I'm just looking for a toolbar with the social bookmarking sites on it so I can click it to add sites to social bookmarking sites. When I signed up for Delicious, I was able to add a button to my toolbar for that site, but I want that for every bookmarking site, like that huge list you get when you select the ADD THIS button at the top of this forum that shows a bunch of sites you can choose.

This is great for on-site use, but I want one just like that to attach to my browser.

I use shareaholic: Shareaholic - The browser add-on extension to share, bookmark and e-mail web pages quickly to bookmark sites as I'm browsing. On my blogs I usually use the sociable plugin: WordPress › Sociable WordPress Plugins

Bookmarking sites such as onlywire.com and socialmarker.com are also useful.

          Thanks, Christie,

The ones that look good, like Socialmarker, only seem to work in Firefox. I'm using IE.

I just downloaded a social bookmarker toolbar from CNET, but it only has 8 buttons with no drop down menu to give me options to add more. I'd sure like to find a toolbar that looks like the ADD THIS button on WF.

I found one bookmarket - but it only adds a link to their site from your Favorites or you can put it on your Blog or Web. I didn't want to have to go to their bookmarket site every time I want to add someone's site to Delicious, Digg, or whatever.

          So I'm still looking.

I hope the pros here don't thnk I'm being lazy in asking but I have run a search and the one at CNET is the closest so far, but I'm not satisfied. Of course, getting spyware is also a concern as that is popular with these toolbars.

AddThis - #1 Social Bookmarking Sharing Button - Del.icio.us Digg Facebook Widget is what WF is using. I just installed it on one of my websites last night in fact. Will be adding it to other websites soon.

I, too, was looking for a WP plugin for these icons as I see them all over the place on other WP blogs. I'll have to look into the aforementioned plugin too.

              Oh, that was funny!

I was running more searches for a toolbar and clicked on my own Warrior post! Proof positive that the Forum gets your stuff recognized by Google quickly. This return shows the link was posted 2 hours ago!

Anyway, I was looking for the site where I saw something about a wordpress plug-in so you could use the social links on your blog, but it wasn't what I thought. However, I believe there's supposed to be something in WP where you can install widgets that allow this. I was sure I saw it somewhere, but can't find it now.

Oh... I think this was it: http://www.socialmarker.com/

Left column: Code for Blogs & Websites. There's a link to install 'All-in-one Bookmarking Button' plugin for WordPress.

                Hi Sylvia

You can use two social bookmarking plugins for WP.

                Sociable

and one free one which I googled

                'dountsis.com/projects/social-bookmarks'

The dountsis one is really cool.

Installation instructions are really simple to follow and all you need to do is customise to suit which bookmarks you want!

                  Thanks, Pete.

I'll take a look at that tomorrow. I've since discovered that the toolbar I grabbed from CNET does actually have a way to add more. I didn't realize that one of the icons is for this. But it looks like there's a glitch in the toolbar because it stalled my browser when I tried to bookmark a site using one of the icons. Some worked fine, though.
