Upsells/downsells: Which software/service/shopping cart is best for this process?

I've spend larger parts of the day thinking/drawing/pulling my hair about how to improve my sales process.

I want the customer to be able to download all purchased products and upsells on 1 page, and have a sign up form for my free membership on the same page.

So the buying process could look something like this:

A) Customer buys product 1

B) Transaction gets processed

C) Customer sees unlimited (well, not that many) upsells/downsells (preferably "1-click")

D) After the upsell/downsell sequence, the customer gets to a page where he/she can download all products purchased AND sign up to an aweber form.

What would be the best available software/service that provides the above?

What would be the cheapest available software/service?

I'm thankful for suggestions!

    I would use digital access pass (DAP) when you buy a single site license or an unlimited site license you can also get a free upsell plug-in.

    So, you could then use your merchant account for one click upsell. Plus, you can chain as many upsell's and downsells as you want together.

    Plus, it will allow you to manage a WordPress membership with a built-in affiliate program and the ability to drip content over time. All in all it is a kick butt solution.

        Not to mention the affiliate payment
        process is absolutely brutal ... it would
        literally take me an entire day simply
        to calculate and pay my affiliates.

        ...and yes, I know about their "mass pay"
        system but that does not take the real
        world into account i.e. paying consistent
        sellers the same as the "1 time blast"

      Thanks for your answers, all!

      I've read up a bit on the difference between "true 1-click upsells" and other kinds of upsells.

      I understand the benefit of a true 1-click upsell process where you never risk the original sale since that transaction is already processed before you add the upsells.

      Let's say we have a product followed by 4 upsells/downsells/one time offers/whatever, and that a customer does this:
      • buys product1
      • transaction is processed
      • adds uppsell 1
      • but does not add uppsell 2 or upsell 3
      • gets sent to download page

      It would then be great if the system found out that this person did not buy upsell 2 or 3, and offered upsell 2 again on the download page.

      Why? Because the person might like your product1 and upsell 1 so much that they'll continue to buy upsell 2 and 3.

      I might just have to e-mail a couple of the companies mentioned in this thread to ask about this :-)

    I own a license to DAP.

    You can always send the secondary offer through an autoresponder or a content responder post.

    I bought it as a result of pretty painstaking research.

    According to Veena, Paypal Payments Pro (not the Standard) and Authorize.net are an identical one-click upsell experience.

    That is what sealed the deal for me.

    I run a few startups that address critical business problems. PM or Skype me about joining my direct affiliate programs. My products are business continuity and customer testimonials. Both are unique.

    ooops ...sorry, I got off track.

    But let me bring up a different angle
    because I see this so much in the
    industry.

    People are always so worried about
    losing the first sale if they offer an
    up sell of another product.

    But this is pure insecurity ...as though
    your product is so weak that people
    just "barely" want it and and will
    abandon the purchase at the first
    hint of an up sell.

    Let me ask you this. When you go to
    McDonalds, do they offer you the fries
    only AFTER you pay for the Big Mac?
    (not that I would ever splurge on a
    Big Mac ...yum!)

    Of course not ... they ask you BEFORE
    you pay. And did you ever see anyone
    get so mad that the clerk asked if they
    wanted fries that they walked out?

    So what I always suggest is to do both.

    Do an up sell / down sell sequence before
    they check out, and then follow that up
    with a 1 click up sell / down sell sequence
    after they check out.

    You can really put together some creative
    sales processes when you do it this way.

    For example, you might do a "soft" up sell
    into a complimentary product as a pre-up sell
    and then do a more aggressive up sell,
    or an up sell into a completely different
    direction or product as a post sales up sell.

    With Premium Web Cart you're able to construct
    this up sell / down sell sequence quite easily and
    you can even do a conditional up sell, into a down
    sell, then back into an up sell / down sell.
