Quick Wordpress Site Question

I have a really simple question on how to do something with a site. I want to know how to set the site up so that instead of going to the blog as a home page, it goes to a custom site. Anyone have a way of doing this or a video they can show me that helps? Let me know. Thanks!

    Hey Eric,

There is two ways of going about this. Do you want an instant "redirect" when someone goes to your wordpress blog? Or do you want to redirect someone to that other site from a navigation button once on your blog?

If you want immediate redirect to another URL upon arriving to your blog, you can make a redirect from your cpanel which would send the visitor go somewhere else immediately upon getting to your blog URL.

For the second recommendation I mentioned, there is a wordpress plugin called "link to" which does an excellent job of redirecting your visitor to any external URL you want.

    Hope that helps!

      I Agree.
Do you want the home page to be a custom page or to redirect to a different site?

Are you wanting the home page to show a different page of your site instead of the "blog" (posts page)? If thats what your asking then its simple. Log into the wp-admin backend. Scroll down to the Settings section of the sidebar and click on "reading".

The first option is for what your front page shows. Check the "static page" button. Under that use the dropdown menu to select the actual page from your site you want to be the front page. Next select the actual page you want the posts to show on.
