Squeeze Page Vs "Authoriy Site" - What's Your Vote?

Ok I have a site that ultimately promotes a CB product on helping with tiredness/getting more energy. The homepage is getting ranked for keywords like "always feeling tired" and "why am i always tired?"

Ok here's the deal, I'm getting an insanely low rate of opt-ins and hops when I have informative content on the front page with a side-bar opt-in. So I'm wondering, should I focus MORE on the opt-in? Putting the form up at the top of the page? I could still put my other content below for SEO purposes but I just feel like information isn't that great if it doesn't grab the email address.

This isn't from a lot of data but if like 3 out of 60 visitors opted in... : /

My biggest problem right now: If I JUST have a squeeze page on the homepage (which is the one ranking) I'm likely to get dropped in rankings for not having a bunch of keyword rich content like I currently do : /

I would put the main benefits the visitor is going to get if he subscribes and the opt in form at the

top...then I would put more content with keyword phrases after the optin form....

    I hope this helps...

Thanks this is something I'm looking at right now. Also, does the opt-in form above the fold rule REALLY hold true, or can you pre-sell the opt in a bit?

You're going to find that your blog opt-in rates won't be as good as a standard squeeze page - at least that is what I have found over the last year of testing.

What you could do is link to your squeeze page from every article on your website, as well as have an exit pop-up and sidebar opt-in box. Add a really sweet product image. That helps a lot.

or you could just do a squeeze page with some information and benefits and a freebie...then forget about ranking in google and focus on "driving traffic" to the squeeze page... think about it

But SEO is my way I wanted to drive traffic. It's not a niche that would get a ton of views through articles because it's not flooded with people like penis enlargement, weight loss, etc.

Well dude article marketing is based mostly around search engine traffic...

Where do you think people are getting traffic from lol?

Connect your ezine articles to your squeeze, your blog articles to your squeeze, squidoos to your squeeze, etc.

well then, maybe your focus should be on the authority blog....if you become somewhat of an authority and you offer a good enough reason for them to signup with your opt in you should definitely get results.

I have had never had much success getting opt-ins from blog sidebars. Like Daniel said, set up a separate squeeze page and send traffic from your blog to there, instead of trying to get them to opt-in on page. May be some sort of mindset thing that takes them away from an information gathering mindset (blog page) to a more active mindset (squeeze page).

Put up a squeeze page in one directory of you site and keep the content you have. Try article marketing, forum marketing and other traffic methods to drive traffic to your squeeze page and keep the opt in box in the sidebar too.

I agree on the squeeze page. If you want to use the blog and sidebar I recommend giving something away for free or even holding a contest on your site to attract people to sign up. I built a list of 30+ in 2 weeks using a contest on a blog that was one week old.
