How many articles should I write and submit to see a good amount of traffic every month?

It depends on a few things:

    - Where you are submitting them to.

Ezinearticles is probably the top directory, but there are others that are nearly as good depending on your niche (I have great results from very topic-specific directories).

    - How well you do your keyword research.

Most of your traffic won't come directly from the article directories, but from search engine traffic using keywords that bring your articles up in searches, they click through to the article directory and then onto your site (that's the goal anyway).

Personally I use a mixture of putting unique, keyword targeted articles on my own sites, submitting other keyword-friendly articles to Ezinearticles, then rewriting those articles and mass-submitting them through UAW.

I can't give you a number because I've made article marketing an ongoing process that keeps growing my traffic over a period of years - still getting traffic from articles I submitted in 2004!

I post to these article directories:

      1. Ezinearticles
      2. Article Base
      3. Buzzle
      4. Self-Growth
      5. Article City
      6. Search Warp
      7. Article Alley
      8. Article Snatch
      9. Article Blast
      10.A1 Articles
      11.Go Articles
      12.Articles Factory
      13.Amazine
      14.Idea Marketers
      15.The Free Library
      16.Article Dashboard

My articles are getting views, and I have low competition keywords for my articles. Currently I am doing one article submission per day, but I would like to increase that amount to 5-10 articles per day.

You should also boost your articles little bit by bookmaking them or do some other link building to your articles. That would make a such a big difference in terms of article views.

Can you please comment in regard to your experience re: duplicate content? Do you submit the same article to all these sites? And if you do, do you do it all at once, or do you plan submissions in intervals? I keep on hearing mixed messages in regard to this, and would love to hear your opinion since you seem to be doing it right.

        Thanks!

From what I've learned is that the duplicate content is a myth. What I do is I submit the same article to the directories manually. I currently submit one article per directory but I plan to submit between 5-10 articles per directories.

It really depends on the niche, competition, how well you write the articles - whether you get ranked for the keywords, etc.

Then... how good is your resource box? Gotta draw them in with the resource box.

I've only been article marketing for a week on ezine without any backlinks or other methods yet and I have 100 hits with 25 clicks and one sale.

Once I get past the initial 25 submissions and have unlimited, I plan on doing backlinks and stuff like that.

  • There is NO actual number set in stone, as to the number of articles you need in order to generate good traffic. It can vary so drastically depending on site, product, program, service, directory, niche and of course the article itself. I have clients that request anywhere from 10 - 30 articles at a time, but that is not an indication that they use and submit ALL the articles in the same month.

I suggest you try different formulas and settle for whatever works best for you. Keep track of how many articles you are submitting and to which directories. In addition, keep a record of the results and the traffic generated by each article. You can do this by using tools like Google Analytics and getting an account with GetClicky among others.

I promote a physical product in the self help niche that sells for close to $400. I figure with that price tag, I should be doing a hell of alot of articles to move a couple of units everyday. I haven't social bookmarked the articles yet but will be doing it soon.

As has already been pointed out, it depends upon
a lot of things including how competitive the niche
in... and how much interest there is in the specific
    topic of the articles.

In an interview that I listened to of Chris Knight
(EzineArticles.com) he pointed out that in some
niches you may need hundreds of articles to
reach critical mass. After you reach a certain
critical mass, assuming the articles are quality
articles, the traffic just starts to really grow.

In many niches, at first you will see very little
traffic and you'll wonder if it's worthwhile. It
is... it just takes time for you to lay a foundation,
and build up steam in the searchengines, etc.

How long is a piece of string ? Depends on your niche and keyword competition .However the best advise i can give you on top of all the other great posts is this.
Leave the reader wanting more dont finish the article .secondly put a compelling reason in your resource box for the reader to click through to your website.

I.e. click here to download the top 10 ways to get free traffic from google.

How long should an article be to get them to click on the resource box? I believe the resource box is pretty good, but I would like to increase the URL click through rate to 30-50%; my current rate is at 21%.

There is no magic number. As others have said it depends on your niche, the quality of your articles, etc. The main thing is that you keep at it. The other main thing is that you don't limit your marketing efforts to only article marketing. Work on other forms of marketing at the same time if you really want to see results.

I agree with your erinwrites. The more the merrier... but then again, it really depends on your resources. And diversify - use other means like videos, forum/blog commenting, etc. etc.
