What Is Your Internet Marketing Expertise Worth To Companies

Check this out:
http://www.indeed.com/salary/q-Inter...Tampa,-FL.html

It shows what the average salary is for Internet Marketing
Consultants in Tampa, Florida. Substitute your city, and see
what you get... if the system can do the calculation.

That's an "indicator" of what your expertise is worth in "the real
world"

So many of us undervalue our expertise, but if you've been
studying... and practicing internet marketing for a while... then
your knowledge IS valuable.

Things as simple as setting up squeeze pages and an
autoresponder, or setting up a blog, or building a social
media presence is daunting to many outside our world. I know
because I work with them every day

Understanding marking beyond the technical stuff is even more
valuable, and most of us have studied sales a LOT. Of course,
you also have to be able to market yourself.

I sell my expertise by doing freelance local consulting, following
the models discussed so often here. I do it primarily by going to
local chamber of commerce meetings, and my local Glazer-Kennedy
Insider's Circle group meetings. In those groups it's all about
networking, and allowing other group members to sharing the
      internet marketing/ecommerce challenges with you.

It's extremely easy although it DID take a while for them to get
comfortable with me and to completely open up.
      Now, I have all
of the clients that I really want... until I get a little more
      organized/systematized.

Sure George... and as someone who joined in 1872,
you would certainly have a lot of valuable marketing
      knowledge in general.

    Wille,

    Thanks for the share.

One thing I found interesting is that bigger city didn't automatically mean higher salary.

I imagine salary has more to do with supply and demand...
and perhaps local cost of living, than size of city.

    Willie,

The link you gave is to average salaries for jobs, right? I'd prefer making $50K annually working for myself than $100K annually working for someone else.

That said, freelance consulting doesn't quite fall under the "job" category, so I'd be ok with it

    Curtis

P.S. Loving the marketing professional's average salary...professional indeed

I interpreted it as average salary.

After working for myself so long, I'm "unemployable" too

Funny how some of us are proud of this fact

In an age where lots of folks are scrambling to find jobs, we're scrambling to get out (assuming we haven't done so already)!

I never thought of doing consulting work. I'm definitely going to look into this.
