What do you think? Could this be a new money making opportunity?

I was reading a story the other day of how a guy used Adwords to land his dream job.

Basically, the guy created a Google Adwords campaign centered around the names of people who make hiring decisions at companies he was interested in working for.

His assumption was that everyone Google's themselves at some point.

He was right! And for the cost of a whopping $6, he landed 4 interviews and ended up getting 2 job offers.

Here is the youtube video he made about it below:

I was thinking, could this be a money making opportunity? How much would people pay someone to do this sort of thing for them?

What do you think?

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

Think somebody could make some nice coin off this method?

I was thinking about it since I know Adwords and I know people looking for jobs.

I was thinking they could pay me on a CPA basis for each interview I land for them.

How much you think someone would pay you if you got them a job interview?

      My immediate thought exactly.

How could you NOT notice a Google ad directed at YOU?

Seems like a good "service" that an entrepreneur like you could offer, for sure!
Hey, after all, you got me opening the thread 'cause of your great headline

What a unique angle to use! So simple but very effective. I think quite possible there could be potential with that approach.

That's very clever indeed. I love when people come up with a unique approach to solve their problems.

And the fact that it's based on merely the assumption that a person will Google themselves is funny, because I think it's something everyone has done at some point.

    Good for him!

Thanks for the compliment on the headline!

Wasn't thinking about the headline when I posted the thread. I actually believe this may be a new money making opportunity for Internet marketers.

What specific thoughts are you having about the potential? What would you do if you were to attempt this?

Yeah Mike, I asked a bunch of people I know that are not IMers and they all said they Googled themselves at some point.

Most of them wanted to find out what Google was showing about them and some of them were worried about identity theft.

Regardless of their reasons, they all did it and I also thought that was very interesting.

You want to target job seekers looking for jobs who already "know" where they want to work and are looking for a foot in the door.

        Where to find them?

        Just a couple of ideas:

Find out which companies/industries are planning on downsizing and contact their human resources departments and offer this as a service
to their employees as part of their dismissal package. I've done this with seminars that I offer job hunters.

Universities/colleges, etc. Contact the schools directly to offer this service to their graduating students. You can also work on ways to connect
        with the students directly.

You can also partner with career coaches, resume writers, anyone who works with job seekers.

Use your internet marketing saavy and set up a website & drive traffic etc.

        Hope this helps!

          This is some excellent advice!

I will consider this if I decide to do this.

My main goal though would be to create a systematic approach for this and then outsource the work because I see it as an extra revenue stream right now especially in this economic climate.

Since I already have a business I am running, I wouldn't put much focus in this right now but I see it as an opportunity.

          Who else has some input?

I agree with you that this should be a "side" project because I do see the novelty of this approach wearing thin after awhile.

You could always find JV partners such as career coaches, career counselors, etc., and have a "package" that they offer their clients and then outsource the actual work.

            Good Luck!

              Another great point!

You have some excellent strategies and this one takes the cake. Finding JV partners might be a quick way to make some cash with this.

              Keep 'em coming!

    Creative.

I've also heard of someone who was looking for a job at a spesific Design studio. He laid out his CV in the form of a speeding ticket made out in the name of the person doing the interviews. Got the job in the end

I'm intrigued - curious how you'd monetize the idea and what you could charge for something like this...Great thinking though! If you're serious I'd get in touch with the guy who made the video.

I love the idea, but don't you think this trick would get old pretty fast?

There are many ways I could see monetizing this.

Getting in touch with the guy who made the video is a great idea though.

You could easily integrate this into your business. Might also make for an interesting JV deal with other professional who do the same thing as you.

Let me know if you do something with it.

I agree with you Curtis on the fact that this would get old pretty fast, but only if it were adopted really quickly and reached critical mass in a short period of time.

Most people have no clue how to use Adwords, so I could also see how there could be a huge market for something like this for us IMers.

Also, that is why I wouldn't say start a business completely around this concept.

I see this as an added revenue stream for someone who could leverage this idea and can reach the market for potential clients pretty quickly without having to try to hard.

      Good points though.
