Ooops... embarassing PayPal screw up

For about 10 days the sales from one of my sites had dropped dramatically. So much that eventually I thought it was strange enough to investigate. I was thinking that maybe I got hacked or maybe there was a problem with my sales page, etc.

Then I realized what had happen.

I closed one of my email accounts and deleted it from my PayPal account because I was getting too much spam. I had assumed that any payments associated with that email would be redirected to the default email account in PayPal. Bad assumption.

As it turned out, all of the payments made through the PayPal links with that email as the payee were coming up as UNCLAIMED.

Luckily, once I added back the email to my PayPal account all of the unclaimed payments came through and were credited to the account.

So that's my brainfart for the month. Hopefully it keeps someone else from making the same mistake.

Now I'm just stuck with like 800 spam emails a day until I assign all my PayPal payment links to a different email.

    Hey Ron

One way to prevent that happening is to use your PayPal ID instead of one of your associated email addresses. They provide a separate field for it that you can put in your button code or form.

    Cheers,
