Why did I subscribe to your list?
I got something free, something I needed, something I didn't find anywhere else, I like you and I wanna read what you have to say, frequently.
Why did I unsubscribed and clicked your HIDDEN link in the bottom of the email?
Too many copy and paste offers! I just read that email yesterday and the day before, if you use those - please rewrite them. Or do it like Howie does and keep it short:
I feel like I know some of the marketers that send me quality everyday, and I am sure some know me becuase I buy there offers 
. But I often get confused because everyone nukes me with offers. So i go down my list of emails and if I cant recall your name, niche, style or something you did for me - that's it I am gone.
I dont have much experience with e-mail marketing, but I have over 3 years of experience with e-mail consuming. If you are building a list, remember that you are dealing with REAL people and not numbers or wallets.
I must say that I have many marketers constantly mailing me, and I look forward to receiving there emails everyday. Because they treat me like a person and they dont hide the unsubscribe link in the bottom.
